I concur. Have been using this strategy. Any time when the need for a new car arises, one will get released from the small collection.

I hate it when kids comes in and escapes with my hot wheels cars - showing their puppy faces. Wife brands me as a wicked self fish "kid". For her and my daughters its just a very small car with which dad plays while listening to conference calls/work calls. With lock down, my hot wheels are staying home finally - at least till the lock down is lifted!

For me :-

1)Solar panels - Power is a necessity when you work from home and your house is the last one in the distribution line.
2)Solar Charge controller - To linkup with the current UPS/Home Inverter
3)May be new high capacity UPS/Inverter + Batteries
4)Home Automation - Stuff from China - Sensors, electronic components and boards.
5)Bee hives - As a hobby to keep some bees. Less maintenance than dogs and fish. Don't want to cage a living being, but help them with shelter (and may be steal some honey as rent! )
6)New spark plugs, air filter and oil for my car - i do routine service after i saw the state of the air filter that was claimed to have been getting replaced at every alternate service!
7)A car with even number - May be - Who knows about how it will go with odd-even rules.

Having said that I might try hard to contain my expenses as this lock down made me realize that my monthly expenses could look much slimmer unlike what it used to be so far.

3rd item: New motherboard, cpu & memory for my computer.
Also need to complete the overhaul of my Grand Vitara rear suspension bushes.
Have pre-ordered an external DAC for my phone. Fingers crossed.
All expenses to be tamped down for a few months.

I had plans to start my own venture starting April, but covid 19 deferred all plans.

Once the lockdown gets over, I will need to invest in machinery

(a) down draft paint booth
(b) two post lift
(c) two stage reciprocating compressor
(d) Hydraulic press
(e) CC cameras, DVR
and more

To conserve cash, I shall opt for refurbished machinery wherever possible..

In the 3rd day of lockdown, my TV just stopped working. It was the sole entertainment for my retired parents. I had made a temporary arrangement with a spare laptop and wifi but they are struggling with the small screen.

So the first thing after this lockdown is to check if can be repaired or to buy a new one.

My essential items post lockdown are:
i) Replacing the inverter battery- I am barely able to get by with recent refill of distilled water. But the battery is really due.
ii) Taking care of my Polo GT-calling up towing for repair and servicing
iii) Purchasing a larger fridge. The limitations are apparent in this lockdown phase.
Finally, if my conscience permits, I may continue and close the pursuit of a motorcycle.

- Setting up a home office as the WFH will continue in near future

I am one of those, realising how less we need to live and most of my online purchases so far were just impulse buy.

Buying nothing as such. Though my car is 10 years old and was supposed to book a new one in Feb-Mar, but the situation changed and now I postponed the plan for some time (till next year may be), as even after lockdown is over, it won't be possible for long drives as hotel and tourist spots would not be open with full capacity. My current one sufficient for city drives.

I expected lot of us here would mention about dishwasher. But I guess the concept is not convincing for us or already have one. Or most of us did not need to take the pain to do dishes in lockdown or it became mundane after month of doing it . Using one for last 5 years, something everyone in cities should get, saves a lot of water, reduce dependency on maid.

The first thing I am going to buy after the lock down ends, is a portable tyre inflator and a puncture repair kit. This lock down has tought me the importance of keeping all my assets operational at all times.

Two weeks ago, nearly after the same amount of time the car was last used, I noticed to my horror, that the FR tyre on my car was losing pressure. It was at half strength by the time I noticed. With everything closed, the thought of not having the car at my disposal for the essential supply runs just sent chills down my spine. By the end of last week pressure had dropped to undriveable levels. The spare has been pressed into service for now. But what if another one gives in?

So hasn't the thought of having this equipment never crossed my mind before? It absolutely has. I have researched a lot online but haven't been able to lock onto any brand/model since every one of them had widely varying customer reviews. So at this juncture, I'll summon the wisdom of the good folks on this forum, to suggest any brand/model they have used thoroughly and swear by. Much appreciate the help.

No purchases planned, but I have decided to take apart some of the decorative greenery on the sides and behind my house, and also use some part of the terrace to grow veggies. This lockdown has been ok for the most part in North Bangalore. Day to day essentials have been available, though, strangely, is has been easier to buy chicken and eggs than fresh veggies. Waiting for a few more weeks till just before the rains arrive to start this project.
