Re: R.I.P. Sushant Singh Rajput

Depression is a state of mind and is not always related to ones bank account or career graph. The reason can be sometimes medical too when the body stops releasing dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin and endorphins (feel good hormones)

Quoting from a Keanu Reeves Interview:
I: What happens when we die?
Reeves: Dont know much, but people who love us will miss us.

Re: R.I.P. Sushant Singh Rajput

I watched a little bit of his acting in the M.S. Dhoni movie. He seemed like such a cheerful and active person. When my sister first informed me of the news about his death at around 12 noon yesterday, needless to say, I felt a gigantic jolt, and searched the internet, only to find out that it is true.

There are allegations about him being excluded and ostracised from the Bollywood industry simply because of him not belonging to some star-studded family of old Bollywood fame. If that is so, then the very little respect I already had for that fraternity will further diminish, and may never fully recover again.

The hollow statements from Karan Johar and Mahesh Bhatt about "blaming themselves for this loss" and "saw it coming, Sushant was a troubled soul" further highlight the gross insensitivity. Where were these people when Sushant needed them the most? As one BHPian mentioned in some thread, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all".

I apologise if this feels like a rant. May his soul rest in peace, and may his family have the strength to bear this immeasureable loss.

EDIT: I found this Reddit link containing some information about how clinically depressed people may look sociable and happy from the outside, but may be going through quite some internal turmoil. Warning: Reddit may contain some expletives, but the comments are usually quite decent. Look for the awarded ones.

Re: R.I.P. Sushant Singh Rajput

I have been kind of feeling heavy & lost since the moment I read about him yesterday. I did not know him personally neither was I a fan of him. I just thought of him as a good guy who was intelligent & a good actor. Rest in Peace brother, I hope you find your peace.

There was a time I thought I had no reason to live for. I thought I had had enough. I used to switch off my mobile on my birthdays, I used to avoid meeting people. I existed but no one noticed except my parents. My girl friend gave up on me.

We were struggling financially. I did not live with them but in a distant city to make my living as a 21 years old graduate. I have a tooth missing even to this day 10 years later because I did not have money to get it treated then. I used to sleep & wake up in pain, sometimes drinking ice cold water to numb the nerves.

I did not know it then but I know it now when I look back, I was in depression. I read all the inspirational quotes, watched all the inspirational movies that I could. Nothing helped, I still wanted to give up. I did think of giving up but never could do it, the only thing that helped was the thought of my parents crying over my dead body. I was too close to them. I just could not give up. I did not take any medical help for two reasons, I did not know I was suffering from depression and even I had known I did not have money to afford the treatment.

I let the time heal my wounds. Today, I am in a lot better place. I have come a long way. I am glad I did not give up. Life had good things in store for me and boy am I glad I gave the life this chance to thrive. If you are reading this and find yourself in such a place where I was 10 years ago, trust me, life has better things in store for you. It might not seem so today, I get it. Trust me, I have lived it but please don't give up. You deserve better.

Please rely on human bonding, I strongly feel all of us should have at least one such relationship which is above everything, even your sufferings. It helps, it really does. Please talk to some one you trust, just open up. If you want some one to speak to, please feel free to drop me a message. I will be more than glad to listen to you.

P.S: For all those, who think depression is just a man made excuse, please don't. I don't wish you to feel the reality of it but I do hope that you would be considerate enough to understand the severity of it.

Re: R.I.P. Sushant Singh Rajput

I'm sure the online gossips, fake blind news about him also caused stress especially in a industry controlled by the nepo gang and it's flag bearer K Jo. Ayushman, Rajkumar Rao also have hinted at this.
https://www.ndtv.com/entertainment/a...ending-2246354

Although i dont like Kangana, she is the only one who has the guts to call out these people. What is horrible is how the news crew barged into his house to get sound bytes and i even saw pictures of his dead body being circulated on facebook and whatsapp. We clearly need some sensitivity training.

Re: R.I.P. Sushant Singh Rajput

Somehow, the deaths of Irrfan Khan and Sushant Singh Rajput feels so personal. I don’t exactly know the reason but I think it is because both of them rose from between us. It was like both of them took the flight through us.

It takes immense strength to come to terms with one’s impending emptiness. Irrfan knew beforehand what was coming but with Sushant Singh Rajput, he only knew how he dealt with what he had. A young life snuffed out which was so promising.

One song featuring him and from the film KAI PO CHE will always be with me since that song helped me at some point of time to make amends, to treasure our relations. Sonchidiya and Chhinchore will remain timeless in the times to come and I will cherish the man forever, hope he is at a better place now.

Re: R.I.P. Sushant Singh Rajput

2020 is giving us reasons every week to despise it more and more. I wish we had a skip button.

Loved Sushant's dances and boy, did he also show that he was not a one trick pony with his acting as well. Felt really sad on hearing this news.

This world is tough, never needs a second chance to put down someone it feels doesn't deserve it's place among its elite. All of us go through ups and downs but if you are feeling down, please talk to someone who loves you and vice versa. Pick up an hobby you would like or just get yourself a makeover. Do anything that makes you feel better.

Find the trigger to your motivation and keep it close.

More importantly, Fight. Keep fighting and you will eventually win!

Re: R.I.P. Sushant Singh Rajput

I think we should try to balance-out our deep emotions from time to time.

We all feel depressed at times and I may be a softie at heart who gets hurt easily too, so I try to watch interviews like the one below.

Yograj singh, father of Yuvraj Singh is one extreme example of a very loud and outspoken person, may be exact opposite to someone like me and that's the very reason I watch him, to balance-out my own thinking

He either makes me laugh or sends a very resonating message to my heart which stays with me for some time and helps overcome those sad feelings-

Re: R.I.P. Sushant Singh Rajput

A double jolt it would appear, his sister-in-law breathed her last yesterday in Bihar, she wasn't physically present at the last rites, as it seems that the shock of his passing away caused her not to eat. The actual biological cause can be anyone's guess.

I've not seen his movies as I avoid Bollywood movies almost entirely, but from the bits and pieces I've seen he sure appeared good in acting. I particularly enjoyed his interviews, his command over the English language was highly impressive, in an industry where most talk like illiterates. He obviously was more of an intellectual, and I assume he did quite well in Bollywood as well.

As for industry support, I'm the last man to support Bollywood and its brainless song and dance movies, but nepotism is there everywhere, more so in Hollywood, people can gain leverage in the performance industry only in two ways (since obviously, education isn't relevant), one being they know people and gain auto-leverage, and two being they curry favors for the people in power to gain leverage.

All discussions on the cause of death, speculations thereof, blaming others, hence, are just theories. We don't know what has happened, we dont know why it's happend, and there is no point criticizing anybody at this point, including Sushant, all we can hope for is that his family moves on, and finds a way to remember him in happy light and blissful positivity in due course, that is the only legacy that can be, in his name. The fact that all the people he had a good equation with, were present yesterday is enough of an honour.

He had a good taste in automobiles as well, he owned the most beautiful sedan of all time, the Maserati Quattroporte and a BMW bike. RIP.

Re: R.I.P. Sushant Singh Rajput

I haven't come to terms with this yet. I've watched few films of his and this guy was smart, not one among the crowd

- His death has brought about the dirty reality of Bollywood industry

- The fact that none of the A list celebrities ( the coffee guys, the KBC guys ) were present at his funeral is even more shocking

- one things that's disgusting is we as individuals are the ones feeding these guys. I'm not sure if I can ever watch another Karan's movie or for that matter any " Nepotism " starred movie

Re: R.I.P. Sushant Singh Rajput

I haven't really been posting much in here but I can assure you I've been reading many threads. But here, I have to let you know that I've been through this hell for 2 long years and have survived to tell.
Depression can come to anyone, at any age and can be devastating if you miss the signs. One needs courage to deal with it.

I was so depressed after my dad expired in 2008, my older daughter got married and the younger one took off for her Masters to UK, all in a span of 3 months and suddenly I was hit by the empty nest loneliness syndrome. I was also jobless then because of some health issues.

I went into acute depression. Days spent in crying without knowing the reason of my sadness, days without wanting to meet or talk to anyone and months of feeling worthless. Then one day, I cried ... cried like there was no tomorrow and suddenly in the night, I felt like going for a drive. I know, it was a crazy thought of a drive at 2am but I thought, who knows, if I die tomorrow, at least, the last thing I had was a drive in the middle of the night! So, took off for a spin at 2.30am. The fresh air blew away some of the craziness.

Next day, I decided to understand what was happening with me. I made a list of things missing from my life and things I had. And what I needed. After that, I just knew what I had to do to get out of the situation.

It's scary when you are alone. And at that point, you don't even feel like talking to anyone. You just get inside your shell and block all passages out. And the last thing you want to know is that you have a problem!

But one has to have an inner faith that - this too shall pass.
I believe one needs to recognize the problems and find ways to deal with it. Suicide is for the weak. Strong people find different paths to help them through. Find a confidante, friend, doctor, meditation, music, poetry, art, anything that will give you *time* to work things out. Yes, one needs time!

And having been through that, I know it is possible. So much of crying and madness and overcoming suicidal thoughts. It's crazy what games your mind can play.

But eventually, nature helped. What kept me sane was my own willpower to overcome. That's when I started going out in nature, to help me deal with it. I bought myself a nice camera and started photographing birds, flowers etc. My friend Nandu, when I shared all this with him, told me to go on the Gujarat Coastal Bike ride, January 2011, with him. That was what changed everything. When one takes up a new hobby that does not allow you to brood or think too much, helps overcome. After that, there was no looking back. The ride to Khardung La with the Bikernis changed me inside out. It gave me back my confidence and the realization that life is beautiful.

But I'll never forget those 2 years of my life. I used them as stepping stones to a better life. But not everyone gives themselves that much time. What Sushant did, was I think, in a moment of weakness or having lost faith in himself. I can understand what stage he must have been in to take this step.

At the end of the day, what is important, is that you sleep without pills or worries, you start living as per your dreams and not society's expectations, you chart your own journey without being influenced and trust your instincts of right and wrong.

At certain points, no doctors or even friends can help. All they can give you is a pep talk which may sound irrelevant to you. Medication is even worse because it makes you dependent. Luckily, I'm adversely against medicine. So I didn't go for it.

And in Sushant's case, not being able to travel out must have driven him bonkers. I can see that now because in my own situation, I could go out and enjoy sitting by the lake or spending a night out under the stars.
What they say is right. Nature Heals.

But nature heals with a condition, that you get addicted to it. Also, sometimes you can't share with family simply because they are a part of the problem.
And you can't share with friends because they are not wearing your shoes.

I now live life by my own principles and values.

If you have read through the rant, thank you.

Re: R.I.P. Sushant Singh Rajput

Film Maker Abhinav Singh Kashyap shared this yesterday on his FB wall;

Quote:
My appeal to the Government to launch a detailed investigation.
Rest in peace Sushant Singh Rajput… Om Shanti.. But your fight continues…
The suicide of Sushant Singh Rajput brings to the forefront a much bigger problem of what many of us have been dealing with. Exactly what might compel a person to commit suicide?? I fear his death is just the tip of the iceberg just like the #metoo movement was for a much bigger malaise in Bollywood.
The death of Sushant Singh Rajput brings under scanner the role YRF talent Management Agency might have played in pushing him towards his suicide but that is for the authorities to investigate. These people don’t make careers. They ruin your career and life. Having suffered personally for a decade, I can confidently say every Talent Manager and all Talent Management Agencies of Bollywood are a potential death Trap for Artists. They are all basically white collared Dalaals and everyone is involved. They all have an unspoken code of conduct they adhere to. Their one simple mantra is, “Hamaam me sab nange aur jo nange nahin hain, unko nanga karo kyonki agar ek bhi pakda gaya to sab pakde jayenge”. Following is mostly their modus Operandi.
First the talent scout(Casting Directors, etc.) working on a cut/commission spots a needy wild talent from out of Mumbai with little connections or property.
The talent is then lured with free invites to Bollywood parties and random Restaurant launches on the pretext of introducing them to celebrities. The Blinding glamour of celebs and lure of easy money is unleashed on the unsuspecting. Mind you they are all ignored and treated very badly at these parties so they feel demoralized and their self-confidence breaks.
Once the confidence is broken, the scouts offer them a multi-year exclusivity contracts and pressure them to sign-up for it by promising to protect them from predators or offering a pittance. Mind you, breaking these legal contracts means heavy penalties for these budding talents but the scout makes sure through bullying and coercion that there is very little option for the talent but to sign up.
Once the talent is signed up with the Talent management agency, they give up their right to exercise free choice and their discretion in any matter concerning career and they are made to work as bonded labor with very little money. Even if they are brave and manage to escape the clutches of their Talent Management agency somehow, they are systematically boycotted and their name smeared till they jump ship to another Agency in the hope of a better tommorrow.
But that tommorrow never comes. Their new agency turns out to be the same. Over a period of few years, mostly the prime of any actor, the talent is repeatedly broken till they either commit suicide or they succumb to Prostitution and escort services (Yes male escorts also) to feed the ego and sexual appetite of the rich and powerful, not just in Bollywood but also in Corporate world and politics.
My experience is no different. I have experienced exploitation and bullying first hand
Arbaaz Khan on Dabangg and ever since. So here is my story 10 years after Dabangg. The reason I moved out of making Dabangg 2 ten years ago is because Arbaaz Khan in collusion with Sohail Khan and family was trying to take control of my career by bullying me. Arbaaz Khan sabotaged my second project with Shree Ashtavinayak Films that I was signed up with by personally calling their head Mr. Raj Mehta and threatening him with dire consequences if they made a film with me. I had to return the signing money to Shree Ashtavinayak films and moved to Viacom Pictures. They did the same thing. Only this time the sabotager was Sohail Khan and he intimidated the then Viacom CEO Vikram Malhotra. My project was sabotaged and I was made to return my signing fee of Rupees 7 Crores plus interest of Ninety odd lacs. Its only then that Reliance Entertainment came to my rescue and we forged an enduring partnership for my film Besharam.
But lo behold... Mr. Salman Khan and family sabotaged the release of the film and got their PROs to run a sustained negative smear campaign against me and my film BESHARAM before release. This scared the distributors from buying my film. Reliance Entertainment and I were capable and courageous enough to release the film ourselves but the battle had just begun. My enemies, which there were many ran a sustained negative Trolling and badmouthing campaign against the film till the Box Office of my film collapsed. But to their horror, Besharam had still netted 58 crores before it went out of theaters.
So they fought on... They sabotaged the Satellite release of the film that was pre-sold to Mr. Jayanti Lal Gada who was the main agregator for Zee Telefilms those days. With Reliances goodwill, they were able to re-negotiate the satellite rights sale with Gada for a much lesser price.
Over the next few years, all my projects and creative endeavors have been sabotaged and I have been repeatedly threatened with life and rape threats given to/for the female members of my family. The sustained gaslighting and bullying destroyed my mental health and that of my family and led to my divorce and breaking up of my family in 2017. They erred and sent some of these threats as texts, sent to me as sms from several numbers. Armed with evidence, I went to the police in 2017 to file an FIR which they refused to register but registered a non-cognizable complaint. When the threats continued, I forced the police to trace the numbers but they couldn't be traced back to Sohail Khan(the suspected sender). My complaint remains open to date and I still have all the evidence.
My enemies are sharp, cunning and always attack me from the back and stay Hidden. But the best part is after 10 years, I know who my enemies are. Let it be known that they are Salim Khan, Salman Khan, Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan. There are many other small fry’s but Salman Khan family is the head of this venomous serpant. They use a clever mix of their ill-gotten money, political clout and connections with the underworld to intimidate anyone and everyone. Unfortunately truth is on my side and I am not going to give up like Sushant Singh Rajput. I refuse to cow down and will fight on till I see the end of either them or me. Enough tolerance. It's time to fight back.
So this is not a threat, it’s an open challenge. Sushant Singh Rajput has moved on and I hope he is happier wherever he is but I will make sure that no more innocent will kill himself over lack of work with dignity in Bollywood. I hope suffering actors and creative artists will share my post on various social media platforms as will the media and people who patronize the entertainment industry.
Warm regards,
Abhinav Singh Kashyap
Please share and forward this as much as you can.

Ever since I read about this dark side of bollywood, haven't been able to a watch a movie starring these big names or from these big production houses. Its been over 7-8 years now.

I know it isn't much, but that's all I can do - not give them my money.

But crores of our fellow citizens don't care about the background games and happily give these criminals 100s of crores for each of their movies collectively.
I also understand that it is not fair to expect everyone to feel strongly about every issue in the world, so I guess this okay if people still patronize such names/movies. But I feel, its the same as supporting a business that known for corrupt practices. To each his/her own.

Re: R.I.P. Sushant Singh Rajput

A slightly contrarian view -

I think Nepotism, is a part of normal life. And yes, life is unfair. But we need to understand at the end of the day, Bollywood, is like any other business. It caters to the demand and does not necessarily do what is "ideal" or "right".

If any one of us had a private business, and would want a celebrity to endorse it, high chance it would end up being one of the star kids, assuming we had the moolah for such endorsements. That's how businesses are run, you want to get maximum visibility and endorsements. If there is a demand for these star kids, nepotism will continue to thrive. If a producer, wants his/her movie to generate maximum revenue, isn't that what most businesses thrive to do so?

And it is not that the star-kids are not talented - many are. Alia Bhat and Ranbir Kapoor have proved their mettle in acting. Some of the other "so-called" beneficiaries of nepotism like Vicky Kaushal, are kids of not main-stream heroes/heroines. They have worked their way up with some beautiful performances. Attributing all of their success to Nepotism (which is currently in fashion) is honestly an insult to their hard work. Yes, they have benefited, but they have also performed. There have been numerous other star kids (and not just in movies, but also in sports or other fields) who have not been talented enough. They may have been given an entry in the industry due to their connections but have not sustained. There are many such examples - including siblings of the famous Bhai. Nepotism is not strong enough for doors to be opened up endlessly.

We do not know (and may never will) what really drove Sushant Singh Rajput to him taking such an extreme step, but it is really unfortunate. Sometimes we have folks around us who are depressed and we assume that they will handle it and come out of it. No one knows if and when they will take such drastic steps, so blaming others in hindsight is pointless.

Well this just confirms what my friend told me years ago that Salman & Co were responsible for Besharam tanking at the BO. He also told that Ranbir and parents had to go apologize and stuff to SK. Don't know how much of that is true, but I'm convinced that Salman is no less than a gangster, considering all the stuff I've heard about him.

On another note, by maternal grandfather was a dancer and toured in Europe back in the 1950's. He aslo worked as a background dancer in bollywood. He never bothered to teach a single dance move to both my mom and aunt, knowing very well how full of shit the bollywood film industry is.

Sushant definitely had a bright future. Everytime I come across a news snippet about him, I feel bad. Also his last post on instagram was of his mom. Can't imagine how lonely he must have been feeling :(

Few others like Raveena Tandon, Vivek Oberoi, Kangana Ranaut & Shekhar Kapur have spoken too.

In fact Kamaal R Khan (KRK) had tweeted something related back in Feb 2020;

The Nepotism promoters are free to cast whoever they wish (Its an open/free market) as thats not entirely the problem here. The real issue is when they are actively discouraging others from casting a particular actor & blocking work.
