i think mineis a crazy commute.. 6kms.. One way..
Home and office both on Chennai bangalore GQ..
Luckily on the TN- karntaka border

Car warms up for 45 secs.. then further warming up by the 2nd gear 0.5km drive to GQ.. Zoom upto a 100.. 3-4 minutes on a 100 office..

OOf course.. This gain depends on which Insane Trucker is over taking the next insane trucker... Those morons Double My commuting time.. (They take 10 mintues yo ovetake each other.. Or it feels like 10 minutes)

Then half a kilometer walk.. from the parking lot...

Well.. But realized it the hard way that this is not the ideal driving practise.. after an accident with a auto who was coming the wrong way...
Now the driving pattern is still the same.. But doesn't make it a point to touch 100 everyday... Is not worth it.. Just for the thrill of telling ppl.. " hey dude I commute to office on a 100" ... feel that better be safe.. :-)

Hyderabad Folks-How many kms & how much time you take !!!

I don't think there is a thread on these lines, so thought of starting one

It would be nice to know how many kms you drive each day and typical time/s to cover the same.

Here is my daily drive details :-

Drive : Accent Viva CRDi/Hyundai i10 Kappa

Himayathnagar->Kondapur->Gachibowli->Himayathnagar : 50-55kms
Himayathnagar-Kondapur, Hitech City: 50 Mins
Kondapur, Hitech City-> Himayathnagar: 1 Hour- 1.10 Hours

Sometimes during peak traffic, i have experienced over 2 hours to return home,Whew !

So, what's your story?

pandeyji: my story would be a total 'jale par namak dalna' on you after seeing how much you travel.

now that you have asked ,here goes!

i travel 3km one way ,making it 6km daily.(mon-fri)

madhapur>hi tech city>madhapur

time taken- 10 mins max (one way)

i harldy listen to 2-3 songs and i am there at my workplace/home..

this is pure luxury comparing to what i was doing in mumbai-36km one way, taking atleast 80-90 mins.

That's because you travel during the peak times.

My travel time:
Vehicle: Maruti Zen (sometimes on Pulsar)
Distance: 11 Kms
Time Taken: to work - 20 Minutes & from work - 15 minutes excluding stops for buying dinner, etc. (Time taken is same on both bike & car!)
work timings: 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM Gym - 8:30 PM to 9:45 PM. so, I effectively leave from hi-tec city at 10:00 PM.

All these years in Hyderabad and with 3 different employers, I have had the most convenient timings in terms of avoiding traffic!
1. 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM
2. 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM
3. 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM

Road taken - B.Hills Road No 10->Rd. 12->Jubilee Hills Rd. 45->Hi-tec City via Durgam Cheruvu

My travel times ...

Drive: Octavia 1.9Tdi / Octavia vRS

Nizampet -> Miyapur -> Kondapur -> Gachibowli -> Filmnagar -> Banjara Hills Rd 2 (Opp KBR): 32 Km one way

It takes about an hour both the time. Got to drop wifey at work :-)

If driving directly, Nizampet -> JNTU -> HiTech City -> JH Check Post -> Banjara Hills Rd 2: 16 Km one way and takes about 35-45 mins

Route: Athapur>Mehdipatnam>Manikonda
Distance: Precisely 15 kms
Time: 15-18 Minutes
Vehicle: Tata Indigo

I avoid rush hour travel in Hyderabad like plague. My average time in office is usually more than 12 hrs just because of this.

No offense intended, but Hyderabad could win global awards for the worst traffic sense and road manners. Driving here is a nightmare of sorts.

Route : Masab Tank>banjara hills Road#1>Road#12>Jubilee Hills>Film Nagar
Alternate Route: Masab Tank: Mehdipatnam> Tollichowki>Film Nagar

Distance : between 6.5-7 Kms
Time:15-20 Mins
Vehicle : Esteem or a OH City(I car pool)

Traffic is ok except to cross the road no1 into road no 12. Rest of the way it is fine if i dont encounter the moving roadblock called APSRTC.

Drive : Hyundai Santro Zing/XO

Work timings: 12:30 AM to 9:30 PM

Venkatapuram->Tirumalgiri->begumpet->Panjagutta ->Banjara Hills : 35-40kms a day
Time taken before flyover at panjagutta: 1Hour to 1Hr 10 Mins
Time taken after flyover at panjagutta: 40 Mins

I generally use to travel through neckless road to avoid traffic at police line and panjagutta junction (Though it has 3 - 4 kms extra)

Now using the flyover which is giving me 10 more mins to spend at home. :-)

Hi guys,
I take 25 to 30 mins to travel 15 kms (13 kms on my return due to road dividers). I leave by 830 am from Raj Bhawan Rd and reach my office in Ascendas IT Park by 9 am. Route is RB Rd->KCP Jn via Raj Bhawan->Taj Krishna->Rd #s 10, then 12, then 45->Durgam Cheruvu.
I return by 530 pm to avoid traffic. However, if I start after 9 and return after 6 pm, the travel time is nearly double! So the trick lies in going early and returning early!

RE Tbird or Wagon R.
I can see the biggest traffic bottleneck I face from my balcony.
So decide on vehicle and route based on it.

If I use my bike I sometimes take the basti roads inside First Lancer and hence avoid the traffic completely.

Masab Tank Flyover to Cyber Gateway.

About 12 to 14 kms depending on the route.
Not more than 30 mins one way.
