Fake grass, but looks 90% like the real thing. Even those who see it in person find it hard to believe its fake.

If it's mat, how long is it expected to last in the Bombay weather?
Was guaranteed a life of 5 years. It is now 2.5 years, still as good as new with hardly any wear to show for it.

If it's actually grass, please tell me what treatment you did for the slab before putting mud on it. I have plans to make a garden in one of my terraces.
Go for artificial grass. Almost like the real thing with none of the hassles. It is literally maintenance free.

Sharing some pics of a few tables that I made 2 years ago. All hand sanded and polished.

Saw a window this weekend expecting the weather gods to be kind and was able to get some polishing and lacquer work done.

After using the emery paper to clear off the old paint which was on the window frames and making the surface smooth as a baby's skin applied some wood putty.

Wood putty is the best filling agent for use on outdoor furniture as it not only resists shrinkage but is also less prone to the effects of the natural elements like sun and rain.

Next was a coat of polish. As i wanted the table to match most of the furniture at home, I added some walnut and rosewood color to the polish.

After applying generous coat with soft cloth, next was a coat of lacquer.

Lastly a coat of sundras mixed with spirit.

And this is the final product
