Re: The best coffee mugs for drivers! Show your mugs here

I have been using the Bodum Travel Press for a few years now and am super happy with it. Bodum is the original French Press maker this travel press is perfect for the freshest brew on the go. It doesn't leak. It's easy to use and sip one handed. The coffee stays hot inside while the outside stays cool. The only con is cleaning but then that's true for any French Press brewer.

Re: The best coffee mugs for drivers! Show your mugs here

Since I am still learning and developing as a driver, i think I have not had a chance yet to experience some of the finer and more user friendly cars/adopt better long drive practices.
My coffee consumption is usually during stops on highways, so When I see GTO sir and some others on this thread being able to drink coffee on the move, I was like wow! how is that even possible, its almost like multitasking for me I guess I need to do more research on how to make it possible for less gifted drivers - the benefits are far too many to skip this!
The USB heated mug looks like a good place to start!

I agree on Yeti, I have a Yeti Rambler(will post a pic later) and its huge, I cant drink so much of coffee and like other's " I dont drink and drive".

My Yeti Rambler is almost 1 litre so I use it for good old "nimbu pani" .Easier to drink and drive for me.

I too use the Contigo ones. Got it during one of my US trips. This is definitely the best mugs that I have ever used. I use it for warm water than for coffee though.
  • Spill proof
  • Easy ergonomic switch to open the mug.
  • Stainless steel
  • Easy to clean

Re: The best coffee mugs for drivers! Show your mugs here

I have been Using the InstaCuppa Steel French Press Travel Mug for more than 2 years now. My job involves me leaving early morning & its perfect to brew a decent cup quickly & leave, Sip it later while on the open highway.
It keeps the Coffee hot for about 2 hours after brewing. Good quality & Pretty durable for the price. Can be used as a simple mug after removing the Filter.
Fits Snug in Honda city's cup holders.

Re: The best coffee mugs for drivers! Show your mugs here

My coffee mugs and green tea tumbler collection
From left to right -
1) Yeti - The construction is excellent, and my go to mug for long drives. I usually carry Masala Chai in it.
2) Hydrapeak - Decent mug, I use it for coffee at my desk.
3) Starbucks mug - Construction is so-so compared to that of Yeti. It was a Christmas gift and I don't use it as much as Yeti. I had to fish it out for today's photo op.
4) Green Tea tumbler - Lately I have started having Green Tea. I simply put loose leaves and pour hot water on top. This batch was freshly brewed before I sat down and opened my laptop. This one has a nice silicon cover at the bottom and helps in holding it even when the water is hot.

The best part is, they all fit in the cup holder of my car.

I see we have some Contigo fans here
My previous coffee travel mug was a generic 500ml one but I really didn't need such capacity, especially since I drink strong black coffee.
My companion for the last 2+ years; the Contigo travel mug with 'Autoseal'.
  • Strong metal body (have dropped it a few times)
  • Keeps drinks reasonably warm for a few hours
  • Autoseal saves your lap/crotch in the event of sudden breaking (trust me )
  • Short design fits in beautifully in the center console

Re: The best coffee mugs for drivers! Show your mugs here

I have got a Waabi Saabi vaccum mug for an year. It feels good and handy. Although, the paint is peeling off now and I would have been better off with the stainless one.

I'm looking for a thinner one so that it fits inside the cubby hole nearer to the gear shift. Currently the thinner cool drinks cans only fit there.

Re: The best coffee mugs for drivers! Show your mugs here

Here's my contribution. A larger BMW mug and a smaller Mini mug. Both bought from the BMW Showroom. The Mini one was pushed by the SA to my wife by telling her she will be able to use it in her next car. No prizes for guessing which car he was trying to sell.
Both have never been used for coffee. The BMW one does the duty of carrying water in the X1. Wife used the Mini one in the Celerio for a while but then replaced it with a Panjo Stainless Steel Bottle.
Now I'm going to start using it for coffee. Thanks to this thread.

Re: The best coffee mugs for drivers! Show your mugs here

I use a Decathlon insulated steel mug, but purely for warm water. A few reasons why.

It's absolutely essential to stay hydrated on a long drive so that one remains alert. And there's nothing more refreshing than unadulterated H2O.

My policy of zero-distraction driving. I'm pathetic at multi-tasking, so with any beverage I can neither relish it nor enjoy the drive.

I believe there's something really refreshing about having a drink, any drink, from filter coffee to masala chai, lassi, lemonade or tender coconut water, fresh at an outlet in the midst of a long drive, while stretching your legs and admiring the scenery. Bottled stuff doesn't quite cut it.

And most importantly, I have a strict no food, no beverage, no smoke rule for any co-passengers. Being borderline OCD, a sticky spill or soiling will certainly be the end of the road for being in a good mood, even though the Thar is eminently washable.

Re: The best coffee mugs for drivers! Show your mugs here

When I was commuting to work (< 25 mins), the disposable 8 oz from 7-11 - love their Colombian blend coffee - would suffice. Long drives to Dallas would see me having Nescafe Instant in an Ikea thermos flask for the journey. I do have a Starbucks coffee container but that's mainly at work.
Missing those days :-(

All these mugs are useless unless you fill them with the right coffee.
And here's how you do that:

Re: The best coffee mugs for drivers! Show your mugs here

Been using InstaCuppa for the last 2 years. I've been really happy with the overall quality.

Granted, post-covid it has found more use at home than in the car, but it does fit perfectly into almost any cupholder.
