Hey Guys,
I've found a Spanish Red Ford Ikon SXi 2002 Model here in Bangalore through a car dealer. The guy(owner) is quoting 5 lakh negotiable. Engine is in good condition. Overall the car is also in good condition except some minor dents(many) that can be noticed with a close look at them.
If i buy the car, I may have to put a CD changer(car has a pioneer system plus x-plod sub-woofer but no cd-changer), new seat covers(it has but I want to put a new one) and change the window-shield lamination to black.
So, to what extent can I negotiate with the owner? Kindly help.

a 2002 ikon sxi for 5 lacs is very expensive. try bidding for 4 lacs. my friend sold his 2000 ikon 1.6 in december 2003 for 2.78 lacs. try comparing ,bro

Yeah Nitrous, now that's a good deal to say the least.
The dealer says that he cannot come down below 4.5lakhs. Any suggestions how to proceed further? I met the dealer today, got the car to the Ford showroom for a checkup. The ford people gave their consent and said that I should bargain starting at 3.7 . Now the dealer says nothing below 4.5. How should I proceed?

tell the dealer ford says 3.7 but u since u like the car u can go a lil further up on price, try to get the original owner in front of u, this can help, dealers are tricky to handle.. i think 4 to 4.2 is max u shud pay (already on the higher side)
this is the deal whenever u r out to buy.. when i casually asked how much my 2000 zxi fully loaded car would fetch (genuine 17k kms, owner driven) couple of months back, people quoted 3 to 3.4 max..
its a wild wild world out there n buying a car always buggers up ur heart vs head equation..

Price is too much. Call a few dealers and tell them u have a car of the smae specs for sale and ask them to qoute a price add another 10k and you should have a realistic price....LOL.
