So get a switch which can turn the reverse horn useful only in times like this. otherwise it can be very irritating to hear every day.

It is a good thing!!! Most people have veryyy irritating reverse tones.

However, I still feel that reverse tones are quite useful since they alert people standing close by. Most times when you're parked on a crowded road and you need to back up, you'll understand the importance. Else you'll just have to wait for that person to move. Honking sometimes doesn't help since they'll just think that you're honking at someone ahead.

So, the best way is to have a switch to activate/deactivate the tones.

I feel a good alternative would be to have a horn fixed in the rear bumper and have a switch to activate/deactivate it? This would be good enough to alert people in crowded areas.

in a crowded area you should make sure it's clear before reversing, ask the people behind you to be careful explaining you are going to reverse.

And I am not kidding, what if there is a kid or somebody who does not understand the meaning of reverse horn.

To all to what vivekiny2k just said....
Even the reverse horn is in the bonnet.... so why can't people just blow their normal horn while reversing whenever there is a need to!

Is this only for the musical types?? Tata used to provide (do they still?) a beep, on most of its vehicles, when the reverse gear was engaged.

This thread clearly demonstrates that 99.99999% of team-bhpians, seniors or otherwise (including myself, at times)do not care to read what the link has to say. If only all these people clicked on the link & read the first 2 sentences there !!!

Am i the only one who thinks, reversing horns should be made a REQUIREMENT! ?

However, -
- Only one type of beeping noise should be allowed
- It should be of a fixed volume (not like the airtel tune that can be heard 3km away)
