So how do you expect the alarm/siren to go off, if your car is broken into

Read the manual or contact the dealer who fitted it, those sounds are programmable to mute using the remote.

How will they check this? The only way would be to find out when someone is reversing the car. IMHO this is a good thing, always hated those reverse horns.

The Mumbai Traffic Police will observe April 7 as no horn day. It is a well-meant move by the Mumbai Traffic Police, even if it is almost two decades late.
Quoting from NDTV!
I liked this move and welcome that.

I am for the banning of reverse horns in Mumbai. I think a set of good reverse sensors will do the job of timely warning the driver, instead of an alarm to warn the pedestrian.
The No-Honk day... Well. Im still sceptical. How many will be able to adhere. How many can and will be caught and fined?

I liked that move by the police. Its so irritating at times like in a hospital. There are cheap ones as well as costly ones. Some central locking comes with the reverse horn.I always advice people from putting them on cars, anyways good move.

Very nice!! There's nothing more irritating than a reversing horn playing the latest film tunes.

there is a guy in the opposite building who has a black indica,he comes from work at 12.30 -1 at night,he is continously reversing with a very loud reverse horn and + the more pain is the ICE is at top of the volume so you have a Reverse Horn+ICE blasting at the same time,he takes ages to park his car, sometimes i feel go ahead and give him a piece of my mind

I hope they do this nationwide.

The only way to enforce it would be to force the manufacturers of central locking systems to remove this feature.

I hope someone files a PIL to this effect

More then enforcing, one has to realize that its a so disturbing.

I remember sometime back a guy in the apartment(which is near ti my place) had bought a new getz, guess he was still learning to drive. so he used to go for a drive early in the morning every day. damn he was bad at reversing used to take a long time to do that.. all the while the reversing horn used to scream:( to top all that it used to echo.

He used to do it every day, dont know if he was deaf!

Ban or no ban, it still wakes me up almost every morning, whether or not I want to get up at the time this young father living upstairs drops his kids to school.
