Superb collection Sachin, and lovely photography I have a few of my own, mainly bikes now. It's extremely difficult to keep them safe though, with a 7 year old running around the home in destruction mode whole day!!!

This is exactly what I have in mind too when we decided to re-do our current house. In fact, it is my wife's idea that I display all my models properly once I have set up my study for it. I really want one big room across the width of the house with nothing but my study table, my scale models and a Ducati to look at. The wife has agreed to everything but the Ducati so far! I am going to tempt her with the one room as wardrobe now!

I would have loved to start my own thread since there is some method to my madness of collecting scale models (which I would love to share) but this is how they are since my daughter arrived and the scale model room became her room. Plus I lack your photography skills!

last time i bought hotwheels was 120 about 3 years ago. it should be 160+by now, maybe. Matchbox were much expensive even then. A jurassic park g wagon was 250 or 300. i expect matchbox price to be static.

Hey SnS_12,

Great collection. My personal favorite is the Land Rover Towing the mini.

I have always admired the photos of your scale model collection on the main thread.

Until now I have only collected Hotwheels ( Over 50 cars).

But I have recently started building one with bigger scales So far My highlight is a FJ40 1/24 .

Thank you Athek. With kids at home its always a challenge to keep delicate stuff away from them especially what they consider to be toys

Scale model motorcycle are a challenge to maintain even in their original packing as they are not properly insulated like the bigger car models and the ones which come in good packing have many detailed smaller parts, which you need to be extremely careful with.

All the best with the room offer but don't let her know the cost of the Ducati you have in mind yet or she will get all calculative.

Thank you. My wife says its my coloring skills as whenever she or any friend wants to upload a picture on social media they ask me to do the coloring (editing).

But why do you feel your photography skills is not up to the mark? I in fact suggested no_fear to seek your help to get good clicks of his Italians..

Looks like I will have to come and spend a few days in Delhi next..

Thank you.

Since the Land Rover and Mini were in 1:87 scale I bought it or else any bigger especially 1:18 and it would have taken up a lot of space.

I was on the lookout for the below DBX and Vanquish Zagato combo, but couldn't find one.

If you're looking for well detailed models then TSM, Schuco, Matrix etc make good Resin models in the smaller scale.

The biggest scale I have are the Helmets in 1:5 and the smallest I have is 1:110 form a brand called Tiny .

Re: My Scaled Down Dreams | Scale model collection of cars, bikes & racing machines

Thanks to the mods for approving my membership. This is my first post so apologies for any mistakes.

Got the Blue "Second Wind" in 1992 by exchanging empty Maggi wrappers.
There was a Red "Need Streeter" also but it's lost for decades.

The Yellow Dump Truck was given to me by by mama in 1993. There were two other models a two door coupe and a cement mixer both of which are now lost.

Got the Orange "Second Wind" and Green "Streeter" and Pink "Ford Escort" in 1997 or 1998

Got the Yellow Mercedes-Benz SLKs in 2000 as a part of McDonald's Happy Meal

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class was by birthday gift in 2001.

Got the Purple "Neet Streeter" and the Truck from Cartoon Network in the 2000s as a gift for participating in the contest "Dream Machine"

The Ferrari California and the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG are recent arrivals though still almost a decade old.

I absolutely love die-cast models.

Good to see someone who still remembers the Maggi wrappers exchange offer. Sadly I can't find that car anymore.. How I wish I never destroyed or opened up my toys to fulfill my curiosity to learn and understand how things worked.

Hahaha, I have got this a lot. Well, the truth of the matter is that my scale models are far more precious to me than any narcotic ever will be (btw that's almost a polo gt worth of scale models there) and honestly, since these were all in display before I packed them, I do not have the boxes anymore. So I spent an entire weekend wrapping these babies up so I can store them properly. Hopefully, they will be out and in their glory once my study is done.

I know holding on the original boxes is a challenge due to space constrains and also some of them have parts which are not fitted on the model for better packaging and once fitted on the model can't be put back in the box ever again, for eg the mirrors on the Huayra BC or hood ornaments, antenna etc.

BTW, do you have a picture of the collection which was on display earlier. Especially interested in knowing which are the longer models?

Let me check. I may have some old pics (From 5-6 years back maybe)
The main longer models are
1:18 Kyosho Phamtom x 3 (4 door, coupe and drophead)
1:18 Kyosho Ghost x 2 (White and Silver)
1:18 Kyosho Bentley Flying Spur
1:18 Autoart Aston Martin Rapide
1:18 Autoart Maybach 57S
1:18 Norev Mercedes S Class

and then the big one is 1:12 AutoArt Lamborghini Murcielago (Black and Manual)

PS- a few older Maisto and Bburago models are packed together as 2 or 3- one of which is a super rare Maisto custom shop edition Murci.
see below link ( i have the same car- which was my first 1:18 in 2007/08)
https://www.ebay.com/itm/382941757700

Cheers
Rohan

Is this the Ford Escort GT? I have a similar one from Hotwheels (minus the Kellogs banner). Incidentally, it was also my first Hotwheel.

Kids now days will never understand the excitement of getting Die-cast car models. Most are busy on smartphones. I feel very sad thinking what will happen to brands like Hot Wheels, Matchbox, Maisto etc down the line since most of the recent and subsequent generations will be showing less interest in them due to the arrival of smartphones and social media platforms.

Quite a few Kyosho's you got there. I have two Roll's but the older generation. One is from 1935 from CMF and the other is 1936 from TSM.

More than Die casts, kids prefer remote control cars but still I have seen many kids still playing with them as well. When I bought those Matchbox cars I bought a bag full of it for my bosses son who was around 5 then.

Also, many grownups like us still collect Hot Wheels and other affordable brands. So they still have a decent market for it.
