Covering it with sand was the easiest way out in the absence of any fire extinguishers, but looks like it wasnt enough. Any idea how this happened?

Hope nobody was hurt in the incident..But seems surreal...seems like straight out of a hollywood/bollywood movie..How did it happened?

'all the king's horses and all the king's men couldn't put humpty together again!'
surprising.it seemed from pics 5 to 10 that they had it under control.
why dont these sand dune safari organisers have good fire fighting equipment?
guess an oil rich nation can afford a torched nissan.
sad.what a waste of a good set of wheels.

Whoa... What a waste...Another reason to carry fire extinguishers in the car.

From the looks of it the Nissan had a leaky fuel line. And the intense heat of the desert with an overheated engine getting a spray of the fuel would have sparked the fire IMO.

By the way 2nd and 3rd pic from the bottom makes me wonder whether they realized much later that there was someone trapped inside the passenger cabin. Looks like a desperate rescue attempt. Also, looking at the 4th pic from the bottom it seems that one of the guys who was close to the scene till then is making a last minute dash away from the place, looking back all the while. I guess something exploded making them rush... and that explosion set even the passenger cabin on fire.

I think the guy in the 4th pic from last is trying to use the ATV to kick sand over the car rather than rushing away from the scene
