I bought Kent Pearl RO +UV +UF + TDS controller for 16k from Reliance Digital. This is at least 2k expensive than online retailers. But since I had Reliance Digital gift coupons, I had to stick with them. Installation is scheduled for tomorrow. Will post my reviews after a week's usage.

Re: Recommended water purifier?

Hi All,
Please help me out.
I have an Aquaguard UV purifier currently. Recently, the TDS has increased to 250 from 150 odd..and we are getting some stomach infections as well. So, we have decided not to take any chance and go for RO based purifier.

Now, the first question is - should we go for RO only or RO + UV?

Secondly, which brands?
I am happy with the service for Aquaguard..So I would prefer them.

Also, I am seeing in Kent, there are so many models like Pearl, Pride etc etc with similar specs. Can you you please suggest which one to go for?

Also, what is the cost of maintenance for either of these brands?

Another option is to go for Pureit .. but there is very less info available for it and the service is also questionable..I guess better to stick to Aquaguard or Kent.

Please suggest.

I am using pure it for the last couple of years and am very happy with it. Service has also been very prompt. I have the Marvella RO + uv and it has worked well. Cost me around 15k if I remember right

Re: Recommended water purifier?

I am using Aquaguard green RO in Sainikpuri locality, Secunderabad. Very happy with the service and quality of water so far. It's been six months. Some initial teething issues as the model was brand new. The arm controlling open/close of water flow, gets a little loose. If you buy it, I suggest that you use that tap in a sudden abrupt motion rather than try to close it gently. Other wise there will be slight drip by drip leak. The technicians came within a week of placing request and corrected the issue. Twice. Working OK so far.

BTW, My place was manjeera water but have ocassionally used bore tanker water as well, and the water taste is good. Of course there is a detectable difference between Bislery added mineral water and RO water, as we all know.

Re: Recommended water purifier?

Take a good look at the models from LG. I like the fact that they have Stainless Steel tank and not some sort of Plastic/Polycarbonate like the rest. However stable the manufacturers may claim the non metallic tanks to be, at some point in time there will be leeching of the constituents in to the water. How much and when, is open to discussion but it will happen. No such issues with SS.

Re: Recommended water purifier?

My Pentair countertop RO suddenly stopped working (after 9 years of trouble-free service) three days back from Diwali. Next day bought Kent Pearl for 16000/- plus one extra pre-filter for 990.00.

Some factors which led to purchase this model:

1. Can be used both as wall mounted or counter top.
2. Removable and washable food grade ABS water tank.
3. Large capacity - 8Lt.
4. Auto-flushing of RO membrane (not available in Grand+ model).
5. Dow membrane.
6. Most important - serviced by company from NOIDA and not outsourced (like LG)

Hi,
Can you explain the benefit of points nos. 4 and 5 above?
Also, does this model come with UV purification as well?
Did you find out what is the maintenance cost of this machine and how does that compare with other brands ?

I was looking at Pureit...there is quite a bit of price difference between their Marvella model (RO) and Ultima model (RO+UV)...I was wondering whether UV is really required after RO and other germ kill technologies etc?

Auto-flush help prevent scaling or fouling of the RO membrane(s) by providing a rapid rinse which washes away impurities and keeps the membrane clean.

Dow technology is reputed all over the world for RO membranes. (I know because i oversee maintenance of our co-op society's 2000 Lt/Hr. commercial grade RO system bought from ion exchange.)

There is 11W UV lamp (industry standard is 8W).

UV is kinda upgrade to an RO. As the RO membrane ages, few pores do open up allowing some DNA/RNA to pass through. UV helps in oxidation of the possibly harmful organics, especially the higher wattage UV which emit both 185 nm and 254 nm UV light.

AMC after one year is supposed to be RS. 3000/- per year.

Re: Recommended water purifier?

Thinking of buying the PureIt Ultima RO + UV, which costs about 20000₹ .
I was a little annoyed with Kent who never visited after several phone calls.
HUL has been more responsive.
Aquasure Expert is another option .
Has anyone used pureit ultima recently or faced issues with it.

Re: Recommended water purifier?

Not off to a good start with my PureIt Ultima. Stopped working after the first cycle. Shows Tank Full even though it is empty and won't fill up. I haven't yet played the store for it and plan to return it .

Hi BenjiRoss, pls keep us updated on this. I am almost buying Pureit Ultima unless you report something seriously wrong about it.

Re: Recommended water purifier?

@BenjiRoss; I will suggest you look for independents for service. Cheaper and equally good, and fa5 more responsive. The membranes etc. are from the same sources in all.
