Awesome awesome... I have water in my mouth. I am leaving for Kol next month.. can't wait to be there. Have to go to all my fav places amongst the ones you guys have mentioned.

Btw, I just realised how big a foodie I am. There is not a single place in these 3 pages that I have not been too..

Slightly OT: I wann do blr - kol by road. If anyone is willing to join, nothing like it. Or else will have to take that boring flight.

Cheers
Shrey

PS: this time I will try and meet all of you guys, if you are avlbl that is.

I see no one mentioning Saima @ Exide. Fantastic for Saami kebab rolls, that too at the cheapest of the rates and one of the best in business. One beer with those and you're stuffed. I am going there in less than a week and going to binge on all the kolkata food I missed in last 2 years. Miss it terribly already...

BTW, Does anyone know where to find authentic sikkimese/bhhutanese momos?

PS: I didn't see any one talk about Swabhumi. Couple of years back, it used to be a hot hangout place. What happened?

There was Suruchi at Elliot Road. It was famous for bengali lunch. Is it still there or gone?

How is Badsah's (Lindsey Street) roll nowadays? Still maintaining that good quality?

A few addition from my side.

Charnocks near Saltlake Stadium - Loved the ambiance of this place.
Woak and Kadaai, Sector 5 - The service is pretty good and of course the food too.

Azaad Hind dhaba, Sector 5 - Don't know about service as I took the food home but the food is damn good at reasonable price.

Happy gastronomic Durga Puja!

Mahalaya coming up in 3 days, Durga Pujo round the corner, food on one's mind, this thread has been hibernating for a year, so I thought I'll poke it and wake it up! Bongs not talking food for a year, that's sacrilege. So wake up, smell the jhalmuri and rolls, and give a pictorial taste of what's happening in Kolkata this year to us probashis who're definitely feeling all nostalgic by now.

And no, I'm not headed to Kolkata this Pujo!

I remember a Chinese Restaurant just further down Hotel Kenilworth/L&T office on the same road - they used to serve excellent Thukpas. Is it still there? It was small joint - rather a whole in the wall. But the interiors were quite well done. Am talking about a time long gone by actually. Six years back, but the tast of the Thukpa still lingers...

My fav at that time was Sanjay Kapoor's Grain of Salt at Camac Street and of course Oh!Calcutta

Grain of Salt is now known as Ivory (don't know whether it is still owned by Sanjay Kapoor)

Mocambo is still my favourite.

Lot of additions at City Center 1 and City Center 2 - i haven't been there recently.
