No... You guys in the financial industry have moved on. But people outside your industry will remember the villains forever. The people who committed those frauds never went to prison, and probably still working in those companies.

You can remember them for all you want but it will always be business as usual. Rich powerful men do not go to jail, specially if they are white. That is the reality. Where is Winterkorn of VW? Where is Dennis Muilenburg of Boeing? Forget them, where is our own Vijay Mallya or Nirav Modi? I can tell you where they are not. And that's prison.

Its a pump and dump scheme. Like Dogecoin. He is not buying twitter. Very soon he will move to some other asset to pump and dump

5 things Musk discussed with Twitter employees during the company's townhall (NDTV.com report)

Quote:
Excerpts:

The billionaire said any layoffs would be considered on a performance basis with a performance bar. He said that the company's focus would be on generating profits and making improvements to the product.

Musk said that only “excellent contributors” should be allowed to work remotely or from home and that too many people were dwelling on the idea of remote work.

Musk might not buy Twitter after all.

Scott Galloway has weekly musing on this topic makes some interesting points (https://www.profgalloway.com/enablers/).
The article refers to an interview with Roger McNamee, an early investor in Facebook.

I view Elon Musk as being the figurehead for a business culture that has just gone completely off the rails. We’ve gotten into this mode in Silicon Valley that we use technology to exploit human weakness rather than empower people, and we’ve supported a management culture that is so self-centered it has no respect for the people who are touched by the product, has no respect for the rules. And in the long run, that’s bad for investors, bad for the economy, and bad for the country.
Quote:
A company as cool as twitter deserves with a product like twitter.. deserves the full attention of people (CEO/management) who are engaged in it. It is part of the problem that twitter has not had someone who is engaged full time in it.
Worth mentioning that the prof had rubbed of Elon earlier due to his views.
Quote:
A few months ago, I wrote about powerful people’s ability to override guardrails. Just as badmouthing your ex is poor form, turning on the institutions that are the bedrock of your success is bad for the commonwealth and plain tacky. Coco Chanel said the opposite of luxury is not poverty, but vulgarity. The culture among our “innovators” is the opposite of luxury.
The “idolatry of innovators,” leads to the misguided notion that people (usually men) of great achievement (usually in tech) should not be criticized, are not bound by a code of ethics, and are above the law. This is bad for society and, eventually, for the innovators themselves. Constraints are essential to enduring innovation. Corruption and economic growth are inversely correlated. Resistance builds strength, and a level playing field rewards talent vs. cronyism. Humans operate poorly in the absence of limits/structure, and given free rein we lean into narcissism and dissipation.

Hold the nose tight and the mouth will automatically open! Kudos to the American justice system; it knows where to choke and what to open.

That said, I will be sad to see twitter go into a control freak's hands. His intentions may be noble, but his methods aren't.

re: Elon Musk offers to buy Twitter for US$ 41 billion. EDIT: Acquires Twitter for $44 billion

Actually, Elon musk asked people to vote on ukraine- russia. Asking if UN supervised referendum for DPR, LPR etc should decide whether they want to go with Russia or ukraine. While russia gets to keep Crimea like it was before 19th century.

This did not go down well with Ukraine government, with lots of mud slinging.

The votes which are in favour of the referendum was quickly surpased by no votes from Ukrainen Bot attack.

Elon Musk said he has never seen such a large scale Bot attack. Many replied that had Elon bought twitter, this wouldn't have happen.

The very next day we see this news.

Quote:
Morgan Stanley, Bank of America and Barclays are the primary financiers, each committing at least $2.5 billion in debt financing for the deal.
