Thou Shall Not - Vatican Issues 10 Commandments for Good Driving!

(C) Reuters News

Thou shall not drive under the influence of alcohol. Thou shall respect speed limits. Thou shall not consider a car an object of personal glorification or use it as a place of sin.

The Vatican took a break from strictly theological matters on Tuesday to issue its own rules of the road, a compendium of do's and don'ts on the moral aspects of driving and motoring.

So, is this some kind of an amendment to the Bible?

Good thing I'm not a Catholic!

But wait.... the wife is.....

Oh, right, wife. So it wouldn't be sinning then....

Looks like the preists at Vatican have too much free time on their hands! Considering that there are only about a 1000 cars there and the last car-related accident happened 1.5 years ago!

Yeah this is especially relevant when the driving in Italy is not very different from that of here. In fact they have developed more advanced techniques than us for making their way through. See the links below.

Since this originated from Vatican City, lets hope that they dont add up this in Catechism classes held every sunday after the mass.

never mind all the moral stuff, but recommending good driving is an unusually useful thing for a religious leader to do!

Note from mod: Post edited, lest someone take it the wrong way

Vatican's ten commandments for motorists

Folks,
The Catholic church has come up with this.

I know my sins are mounting!

The "ten commandments" for motorists, as listed by the document, are:
1. You shall not kill.
2. The road shall be for you a means of communion between people and not of mortal harm.
3. Courtesy, uprightness and prudence will help you deal with unforeseen events.
4. Be charitable and help your neighbour in need, especially victims of accidents.
5. Cars shall not be for you an expression of power and domination, and an occasion of sin.
6. Charitably convince the young and not so young not to drive when they are not in a fitting condition to do so.
7. Support the families of accident victims.
8. Bring guilty motorists and their victims together, at the appropriate time, so that they can undergo the liberating experience of forgiveness.
9. On the road, protect the more vulnerable party.
10. Feel responsible toward others.
