Would strongly recommend Undekhi to BHPians who like crime & drama. Only for adults though, there is an unbelievable level of filthy language here. |
The ending seems to be inconclusive. Lots of questions, unanswered. Hope they are approved for second season.
Lucifer has some new episodes out for season 5,episode 9 plus.
Just watched Hamilton on Disney+.
Amazing amazing show! Highly recommend it for anyone who likes Broadway musicals!
Mare of Easttown on Hotstar is amazing. The last episode would be released tomorrow. It's a murder mystery with lots of drama. Kate Winslet has acted brilliantly and has brought the character to life.
Any reviews of Maharani, the new series on Sony Liv?

Decent one time watch, loosely based on the famous couple of Bihar with some real life similarities and some actual happenings thrown in the series. Huma Qureshi has acted well and so has Amit Sial and Pramod Pathak( who plays Mishra). Special mention for the girl who played the character of Kaveri. People who followed the politics of the nineties will find too much of real life incidents thrown in !!
The series ends with a hint of second season and more of the dealings of Maharani in the next.
Watched Criminal:UK in netflix. A cat-and-mouse drama, which focuses on the intense mental conflict between detectives and suspects. The stories take place within the confines of a police interview suite. The acting is immaculate, the script is as sharp as a razor, the plot twists are truly unpredictable and in the first episode,David Tennant is just incredible. Both seasons are definitely worth a watch. Would rate it 4/5*.

Not fully done yet, but a good watch. I like series/movies that depict a region and time period one is not personally well aware off. So the representation of Bihar of the nineties was interesting to me (although called out as fiction, it is obvious lot of the depiction is that of real events with some tweaks). All of the cast does really well.

Her name is Kani Kusruti. Has been around in the Malayalam film industry and theater for a long time with smaller roles, but recently came into the lime light when she won the Kerala State Best Actress award. A trivia about her is that her parents dropped her last name when she was a kid and she created the last name Kusruti (which means mischievous) in Malayalam when she had to fill out some forms in 10th grade.
She has done a great job in 'Maharani'. Although wish they had given some more screen space to the dynamics between her and Huma.
Completed both seasons for 'Who killed Sara' on Netflix.
Rating: 3.5 /5
The story is about a murder of Sara and false implication of her brother to 18 years of imprisonment. He comes out and starts finding the real killer. It has quite a lot of turns and twists as a masala series. The casting is good and the overall flow is fast. Performance by the main characters is also good.
Good one time watch.

Season 2

Watched Netflix series:
Bodyguard.

Very gripping story, taken slowly but equally not boring.
Climax is ultimate to watch, given the twists are opened one by one.
Overall rating: 3.75/5. (due to slow pace of story moving)
Climax: 4.0/5.
worth a watch for a weekend if you are interested in thriller web-series.

Thanks for the recco- it was totally worth it! Caught the last 3 episodes real time which was really agonising given that one has got used to binge watching. Now that the whole of Season 1 is available, would highly recommend people catch this (it's on Hotstar Premium). Kate Winslet is amazing!
FRIENDS Reunion anyone? I watched it over the weekend (it's on Zee5). The problem with projects like these is that they are a bit like sitting and watching your old home videos- it means a lot to you but may bore the hell out of everyone else! Similar problem as with Mamma Mia- anyone less than an ABBA superfan would be left cold after. But if you're a FRIENDS fan, you will absolutely love it. Starts slow, and it is a bit of a shock to see how poorly some of them have aged, but very satisfying at the end.

If anyone is looking for a good VPN, I strongly recommend ExpressVPN. Works magnificently for streaming from USA. They did perform a shady trick by charging my card despite a cancellation, but it was solved in 1 minute via the online chat (received refund promptly).

A handful of shows on Sony Liv are good, but using the app is a painful experience. I am amazed at how such a giant company could churn out this shoddy an app.

I am using the Sony Liv through a browser in Firetv. Imagine the pain you have to suffer if you want to pause a show. It is horrible. They charge you 1 K to see these shows.
Only reason I went for the SonyLiv is they have the full Agatha Christie - Hercule Poirot and Miss Marples. There is another Police Procedural TV show - Unforgettable. In this the lead female cop has a condition called as
Hyperthymesia, a rare medical condition that gives her the ability to visually remember everything she has seen or heard.

Thank you for the recommendation. Last year Nicole Kidman dazzled with
The Undoing, and now its Kate Winslet’s turn as Mare – just brilliant!
The Philly small-town almost felt like a character in the show.

Are you still not able to download the app on FireTV? I use the FireTV stick and have the SonyLiv app installed and it works pretty well. Of course not to Netflix /Prime levels, but as good as the rest of them.
