watched short story series love, sex+robots on Netflix. It has 3 chapters/seasons, less than 15 min for each episode, so a quick binge watch.
Some stories are good, few extremely good, rest are OK. You won't get bored, esp because of quick runtime of each story.
Rating 3.5/5
Currently watching Oatsstudio, another short story compilation, sci-fi/dystopian/blood/gore/supernatural. It is directed by Neill Blomkamp (District 9 fame) and it has his signature style of story-telling and visualization. Liking it enough to keep watching. Will give a rating once I finish.
She (season 2) on Netflix, Rating 2/5
Season 2 gets bolder portraying how the protagonist, a female undercover cop, turns into a drug cartel leader.
Story becomes boring at places and unconvincing sometimes. The director likes to believe, the suspense is intact with protagonist changing sides or her counterpart keeping mum throughout but fails miserably. It becomes yawn inducing. You feel like cut the crap.
Dialogues like "real power comes when you kill your loved ones" are laughable.
Suzhal - The Vortex
Thanks for the recommendation.
It was a really good series but wouldn't say brilliant. Everyone acted very well (brilliant I should say) and loved the festival setting and the BGM associated with it. You tend to continue with the next episode as they end each one at a crucial spot.
Climax is sort of expected as you continue with the later part of the episodes but they try to take your attention by driving their suspicion to other characters (they did that very well even till the last episode).
Let's wait for season 2.
Rating - 4.5/5 (Available on Prime)
Enjoyed Suzhal on prime. Can draw parallels to the Raveen Tandon starrer Aranyak that came out few months back. Small town in the hills, everyone knows each other, dedicated but inexperienced police force, some historical tradition and customs thrown in.
Very nicely executed and great performances all around. The suspense is kept alive till the last episodes fairly well.
Rated 4.5/5 (PRIME VIDEO)
I liked Suzhal as well. The story is metamorphic, in that, it changes with the flow so one needs to watch it with rapt attention. The series centers around the investigation of a missing person, and that - thereafter unravels few mysterious events in that small town. Kept me hooked throughout
Avrodh 2 SonyLiv
A figment of imagination from the writers of the show to showcase the positive effects of Demonetisation and the rational often mentioned as the reason for it- to stump out terror money and fake notes and black money in the financial system. Such forced attempt to whitewash Demonetisation feels terrible now, more so since we all know by now, how that panned out finally. Some real life incidents have been taken and made out as a full fledged series. Expected better from Abir Chatterjee- this being his first Hindi series. Rest of the characters are merely used as props despite some good and capable actors playing them. Watch it only if you don’t have anything to do, even then, it’s a drag, I couldn’t complete it !!
Rating: 2/5
Scrolled a few pages and could not find mention of Obi-Wan. Would highly recommend to all start wars universe fans. Mandalorian and The book of Boba Fett have made this a great year for fans. All on Hotstar.
Also watching Ms. Marvel. The casting of Iman Vellani as the lead is spot on and she does the character justice. I understand this show leads up to the next Captain Marvel movie. Show is 3 episodes in and I’m loving it so far.
Saw Dune on Prime this weekend. Good watch if you’re a fan of science - fiction. High burger movie with A-list star cast.
Runway 34 on Prime was strictly average. Ajay Devgan acted well but Boman Irani’s role was a bit of overkill. Amitabh with his baritone voice shines out.
Next on list is The Pacific. A four episode mini series from 2010. It’s an HBO show available on Hotstar. A cousin keeps recommending Succession, also on Hotstar, but looking at the number seasons I don’t want to get hooked now.
Suzhal - 4/5
8 episodes which can keep the viewer in its grip. Amazing storyline and good acting. Multiple language options is a boon (I watched it in Kannada).
Absolutely loved the acting and character of the fire investigator.
Note : Watch with full concentration, else one may miss the plot completely.
The Bear
What a cute little show. 8 episodes, under 30 mins each. Binged it. Jeremy Allen carried Shameless and he is doing a fantastic job in this one too. The support cast is great too. I am not into cooking/restaurant related stuff and still enjoyed this a lot.
Rating - 8.5/10
The Boys Season 3
Still 2 episodes to go. But, episode 6th (Herogasm) is absolutely brilliant. Some of the best action choreography in a superhero tv show. Antony Starr is so menacing and terrifying as Homelander, the way he switches his facial muscles to show his emotions is a treat for an actor. And Jensen Ackles as Soldier boy was a brilliant casting. I hope he stays with the show.
FYI, do not watch this show with Family as lots of nudity and violence.

I am currently watching Vikings on Netflix. Suggest you watch this first and then The last kingdom . Viking is kinda prequel. It shows how they discovered England in the west. Pretty gripping series this. :thumbs up |
Continued with the last kingdom for now, and am into season 4 now. Thoroughly enjoying it so far! Made my Covid stint pass. rl:
One thing to be said above everything, though. No bad acting in this, not even the bit players.
Watched a couple of good Netflix documentaries this week. Athlete A focuses on the abuse scandal at USA Gymnastics: it's a difficult watch since the survivors are all minors but ends on a hopeful note so do watch it. Amanda Knox focuses on the bizarre trial of the eponymous American 20-year old exchange student in Italy who was accused of sexually assaulting and murdering her roommate. It's like Italy's version of the Aarushi Talwar case. The pacing is a little awkward (slow at the beginning and too many things crammed into the last 20 mins) but worth a watch.

My God! What a show. Hats off to the creators.
Antony Starr and Karl Urban are simply exceptional and Jensen adds spice to this mix. One of the best superhero series.:Cheering:
Manifest is now streaming on Netflix. It's a good show if you haven't seen it yet. Season 4 might drop around Oct-Nov.
