Asur-2 JioCinema

After the brilliant Asur 1, the second season follows up on the first and makes a good watch. The first season was more intriguing and the second season while watchable, misses the intensity of the first. Nevertheless, Asur series is one of the best to come out in the Indian context. The makers have kept the window for the third instalment open and it would be worth the wait, should they decide to make it. Only one gripe, Barun Sobti should come out of this forever grumpy face !!

Rating- 3.5/5

The Night Manager Hotstar.

The second part is way better than the first here. I wonder what made the makers not release the entire series at one go. I started the series reluctantly since the first four episodes were borderline cringe but was pleasantly surprised by the second part. Anil Kapoor finally got to show his range but the real star was Tilottama Shome. Good watch, if someone has not seen the first part yet, it’s a good idea to watch the whole series at one go.

Rating: 3/5 ( the rating is primarily for the second part)

Total bummer! Did not realise just 2 episodes were out yesterday. This is the first time they have a staggered release for the episodes.

This season has had a good start. Will wait for the rest. Love the friendly banter between Jack and his superior Greer.

Homestay Murders - Bengali

The TV / Streaming shows thread (no spoilers please)-xvyotq0mduwotm._v1_fmjpg_ux1000_.jpg

Agatha Christie adaptation. I found this to be strictly average. They could have really made use of the wonderful location. Also, they just rushed with the ending.

Rating - 3/5 (Hoichoi) - Watchable

The Night Manager (Disney + Hotstar)

The series starts off well , reaches it’s peak in episode 4 (the strongest episode) , and then slowly settles down to being just above average. Very predictable!
Anil Kapoor is the star of the show, would love to see him in more crime dramas. Only Siddharth Roy Kapoor’s character has been given a background story, would have loved to see details about Anil Kapoor’s character as well.

Overall would rate it 3.25/5

SCOOP (Netflix)

This the first time I’m seeing Karishma Tanna in a role on TV. Very engaging story, captures a lot of detail about journalist Jigna Vora’s life. Would recommend you’ll to give this one a watch. Special mention for Zeeshan Ayyub , this guy nails every role he takes

Rating- 4/5

The Night Manager, 2016 was fantastic. Based on John Le Carre's novel of the same name. Nothing comes close to John Le Carre in the genre. And the British TVseries is quite well made too. Not to mention the fantastic actors.

Is it just a one season, 6 episode show or there is more to it? Because, if I can not watch the entire season / show, it will be futile, hence my query. (If season 1 gets a decent closure than it's still okay).

Yes, the show concludes in a single season.

The Night Manager on Amazon Prime

One of the better done series in India. Probably liked it as I haven’t seen the original yet. Everyone has done a wonderful job. Only gripe is it could have been completed in a single season without stretching it to two parts uselessly.

Rating: 3.5/5

Adhura on Prime Video

After a lot of let-downs in the "Thriller/Horror" titles, skeptically started to watch this series after what seemed like an interesting trailer. And damn, this series got us hooked right from the first episode.

Good acting all around and that kid sure can put across the intention of his character without saying much verbally.

Finally got something worthwhile to recommend here after a great recommendation streak by the rest.

I'd rate it 3.5/5

Watched 4 episodes over the last couple of days. Somehow i feel Season 4 is not as tight as the first or 2nd season. Both of them were vintage Clancy and the storyline was tight. In this case, i see multiple flaws as if they just raced to meet a deadline of release.
Characters are not fleshed out nicely and some of them are wooden. CIA director seems to be a fairly young girl. Not sure why characterization did not give the director a little bit of age. Some of the villainous characters are hyped up, but receive a tepid blow in the end.
Will wait to see the last 2 episodes over this weekend to give a final rating. As of now, i would say can be watched to get closure for a serial

I agree; I've struggled to finish the each episode. They're just not engaging enough.

I agree. The production values are quite good. Anil Kapoor is good as usual. Do watch the original. Hugh Laurie is quite different than his Dr. House character and Tom Hiddleston was fantastic. Especially after his Loki portrayal.

We are good horror lovers. Itching to see this but issue is can't see it with our 4 year old son so will do a watch when he isn't around. Trailer looked promising.

Will Trent on Hotstar is a good watch. Nice detective series with a hint of humor. Haven't finished it so won't rate it.

I'm a huge fan of Jack Ryan and as rightly pointed out Season 4 is absolutely lame from every aspect-Story telling, acting and characters.

It's just not enough to keep moving between country to country to make the story seem like a global spy caper but, it needs good storyline which is totally missing.

In comparison, the previous season had everything- lots of action, storyline and gripping suspense.

I'm in EP 3 and will slowly and steadily finish this series and bid adieu to JR.

My rating for S4 is 2/5

If you haven't already watched these, foll. on Netflix might be of interest. Mind you, not all of these fit the "horror" genre, but supernatural - sure!

Series:
* Stranger Things
* Manifest
* Travellers
* One Life
* The Watcher

Movies:
* Quiet place 1& 2

* The Stranger (UK version of Harlan Coben novel) - neither supernatural nor horror, but a good watch
