Thanks! I'd forgotten about this show. I've watched Season 1 - 3 and found them to be spectacular, had skipped Season 4.

This, along with The Crown sets up viewing for at least a fortnight!

CHOTOLOK ZEE5

One of the better bangla series to come out off late. A murder mystery but with many underlying ills of the society that was shown and the story woven around. The story telling is very good and one needs to keep track of the happenings. The pace is little slow initially and non bengali speakers will find the pace even slower but it picks up mid way when the twist reveals itself slowly. Daminee Benny Basu as the resilient police SI has acted brilliantly and the series should be seen for her only. One of the better ones to come out of Bengal for sure. Recommended watch, with subtitles as well.

Rating- 4/5

Watched Chotolok, decent series, way too slow though.
Watched the first 2 episodes of Fargo Season 5, has the same feel of the earlier seasons, very nicely directed, the same humorous takes as earlier seasons.

Victim - Who is next? (Tamil)

The TV / Streaming shows thread (no spoilers please)-1.jpg

Some prominent cast and crew but that doesn't do justice to the series/anthology. 1-2 episodes/stories were watchable while the rest were below average. It's definitely watchable but wont regret if you miss it.

Rating - 2/5 (SonyLiv)

The Railway Men - Hindi

This was just brilliant. Kay Kay stole the show in this one but everyone else supported/acted really well. Even though each episode is 1 hour long, just the 4 episodes doesn't make it boring.

Rating - 5/5 (Netflix). Highly recommended.

Fall - Tamil

The TV / Streaming shows thread (no spoilers please)-3.jpg

Sort of reminds you of the usual soap drama on TV that never ends and keeps dragging. Everything was bad in this except for the first episode that makes you think it's some suspense thriller. Episode 2 to 7 is just the same things shown one after the other. And add some pathetic acting.

Rating - 1/5 (Hotstar). Skip it!

Finished watching both seasons of Mumbai Diaries on Prime Video. Had somehow missed out on watching Season 1 when it had premiered back in 2021. Season 2 takes it up a notch.

Brilliant production design, coupled with class acting by literally every character. The screenplay is taut and the flow of the show keeps you hooked, even though you're aware of the events around which this show is based (in both seasons). The emotions are portrayed beautifully.

Surprised that there was barely any media noise regarding this show. Actually maybe not that surprised, considering the fact the true ugly face of the media has been showcased in it's absolute gory form.

4.5/5

All Creatures Great and Small - Rating 4/5
Simple storyline, great locations bolstered by good acting. Done with 2 seasons, looking forawrd to the remaining 2.
I had been searching for something like this for a while now and I stumbled upon it while browsing through Imdb. unfortunate that its not available on our OTTs, had to VPN this.

The Railway Men - Rating 5/5
Really good watch, did not expect it to be this good. Others above have covered most of the salient points, would definitely rate this as a do not miss show.

I caught up with it a bit late, but totally agree that it’s a must watch. The cast is stellar! Sadly, some of them don’t get enough screen time.

Screenwriters have done their research well - not just about the tragedy & it’s forgotten heros & victims, but also about the current events of the time. They have incorporated these elements into the story without deviating from the plot, to present a fairly realistic depiction of what it was like, at the time.

Production value is top notch as well. Dare I say, better than some of the big screen releases we have seen in the recent past.

The Railway Men!!!

Agreed with the reviews here. What a brilliant series. Trailer itself looked pretty impressive and the final content didn't disappoint at all. Every actor has done brilliant & special mention for Babil Khan(son of Lt. Irrfan Khan). The boy did stellar job. Looked a shadow of his father. :)

Rating : A fantastic 5/5

The Patient on Hotstar

A dark psychological thriller explores how things can go wrong when the relationship between an abusive father and son goes downhill. It is not easy even for psychiatrists dealing with patients, that too who are at the point of no return. Excellent acting. A bit slow but understandable when the series is about the "therapy".

Rating : 4/5

Dont miss "See" on Apple TV. Amazing 'world building', superb acting - and very interesting in a unique sort of way. Very high production values.

Agree on FALL. It is 3rd class worst show and yes it makes you feel initially that it is some thriller or so, but it is totally waste of time.
Watch only if someone is making you do that at gunpoint.

Shehar Lakhot Amazon Prime

Being a long time admirer of Navdeep Singh- the man who gave us the splendid Manorama Six Feet Under, this series suddenly popped up recently and I started watching it with gusto. This is another wonderful noir crime drama about a small town where many stories of deceit, betrayal, crime happen simultaneously.

Brilliant storyline and some superlative acting by Manu Rishi and Chandan Roy Sanyal are a treat to watch. In fact, every character has played their parts well. Priyanshu Painyuli finally gets a standout lead role where he gets to stretch his acting chops although looking nonchalant at some of times, I guess that came from the demands of the character. The episodes could have been kept shorter somewhat since at times, the episodes seem to be longer than usual and a bit of patience is required. Navdeep Singh just created another of his noir work and which is equally good. Highly recommended watch.

Rating: 4/5

Watched Mast Me Rehne Ka on Prime. Liked it very much. Loved Jacki Shroff. Honestly we don't need Amitabh to act in every movie. Jackie is so natural :thumbs up

Stumbled upon the trailer of The BOYS season-4. Says 2024 release but no timeline yet.

Antony Starr looks as menacing as ever as Homelander :)

I always wondered what happened to the maker of this wonderful movie called Manorama Six Feet Under and then I read this review and went on to finish the series in one sitting. Thank you for this review else I would not have seen this series. Also, it featured one of my most listened-to songs of the year in the closing scene - "Dhumrapaan" by "Itra" and all I can say is this was so apt. A must watch.

PS: The dialogues are full of expletives.
