The book made for some really enlightening reading. Though i felt the chapter about the excesses of some of the Maharajas was out of place in the book.

Had no idea there was series based on the book.

Shall be sure to give it a watch.

Thanks for the headsup.

I was lucky to have read the book years ago; an excellent account of the happenings of that time. Definitely felt that some stuff was added masala; but still remains one of the most detailed accounts of those tumultuous days.

I myself wasn't aware regarding the series; happened to spot it after opening the Sony LIV app over the weekend to catch up on an episode of KBC; was pleasantly surprised.

P.s. I felt that the ending was a little abrupt; don't want to give any spoilers though so will refrain from mentioning here for the time being. Not sure if the makers are planning for a Season 2.

"Hey Arnold! is an American animated series and sitcom created by Craig Bartlett for Nickelodeon. It originally aired from October 7, 1996, to June 8, 2004. The show centers on fourth grader Arnold Shortman, who lives with his grandparents in an inner-city tenement in the fictional city of Hillwood.

A surprise addition by the content team. Used to enjoy it in 2000s on Nickelodeon. The art style, jazz music and memorable characters.

Save yourself from the pain. S3 ends in another cliffhanger and as per reports, S4 will be aired in 2026. Better to wait

Oh man! Another promising show off the watchlist then. In my opinion this series ought to have been finished in three seasons. So much needless fillers just to keep things dragging along.

Thanks for the heads up. Shall reign in my expectations accordingly

Yes, there were some unnecessary character addition and arcs in S3. But the way it ended in S3 is good though, adding a different perspective (and possibly another genre to the mix). Not sure if they are going to end it by S4.

The Infiltrator
OTT : Netflix
4.5/5

This is a gripping, suspenseful and thrilling true story of a federal agent Robert Mazur (Bryan Cranston) goes under cover to infiltrate the trafficking network of Colombian drug kingpin Pablo Escobar.

Anything that relates to Pablo Escobar really perks up my interest as I have been following him for years and find him truly intriguing on how he built his drug empire.

Just out of that interest, I also visited Colombia couple of years ago. If you haven't seen the travelogue. Here it is :

https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/trave...ml#post5734371 (Colombia, South America | Partying in the heartlands of Pablo Escobar)

He works with 2 agents. I absolutely love John Leguizamo who is just a fluent actor and takes every role under his skin.

He poses as a slick rich money laundering business man and infiltrates Escobar's organization. As you can imagine, any infiltration type of movie is going to be super engrossing and this was no different.

Big fan of Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad according to me is the best show on the planet) does not disappoint.

The Penguin
OTT: Jio
Rating: 4.5/5

Wow! Colin Farrell just raises the bar with this one. Absolutely briliant!

It starts off a little slow but it kicks into a totally different gear from Episode 5 onwards. You don't need to watch The Batman or even be a fan of the comics (although it might help) to truly appreciate this show.

It's been a while since I've watched something so gripping with amazing performances from the entire cast (the actor playing Lil Oz did a terrific job!)

The 2 awards that should definitely come their way is for Colin Farrell's performance and his Make up crew.

A must watch for fans of thriller, gangster or the crime genre.

Senna 2024 Tv mini-series

What the hell did I just watch. Its like watching world war 2, and Hitler is a saint and the entire world was conniving against him. As much as I love Schumacher, even I can't romanticize my hero idol to this degree.

FROM turned out to one those shows which has a very interesting premise but then gets unnecessarily stretched and loses the plot. Lot of series I feel are turning out to be like this because of the greed of the makes to make hay while the sun shines but they are not able to strike a balance.
FROM Season 1: excellent
FROM Season 2: average
FROM Season 3: poor, dull, boring, repetitive.

I am not sure I will be watching Season 4.

The Madness
OTT : Netflix
4/5

What an amazing thriller. It's nail biting from the moment first screen is projected on screen until the very end (8 Episodes). There are very few series that can do this and this is one of them.

A media baron from Philly goes to a cabin for a weekend retreat gets framed for a murder and starts running and at the same time trying to find the folks who are cornering him for this crime.

Great to see a black main star-cast and main lead (Colman Domingo) does a fantastic job (if you ignore his open mouth for most part of the series). There are quite a bit of twists and surprises that keep you on the tenterhooks.

There are some leftist and even racist innenundos which can be safely ignored as that's not the theme out here.

If you don't want to be bored, then this is the one for you. Go watch it.

Freedom at Midnight

The TV / Streaming shows thread (no spoilers please)-screenshot_2024120707302430_cbf47468f7ecfbd8ebcc46bf9cc626da.jpg

Streaming on SonyLiv, this series is based on an eponymous book written by Larry Collins and Dominique Lapierre (1975).

In an era that excels in demonizing the past, glorifying the present and fantasizing the future, at least a cursory look at a balanced portrayal of the days leading to the Indian independence is essential. Especially for studious pupils of the The Great WhatsApp University, a few straightforward lessons on the true colours of our erstwhile nation builders is a medicine that can help cure their jaundiced vision of history. The current series hopes to provide us an avenue for that.

I am yet to complete the series, but the six episodes that I have sat through over the last week have been interesting, though not really captivating. The naughty irreverance with which the quirks and idiosyncrasies of the men and women of prominence have been brought forth, is reflective of the freedom that we actually enjoy at present.

Specifically for those who haven't read the original book or have only been schooled via social media about India's past, this series can be a real eye opener.

Have a dekho, if you can spare some time.
