The Diplomat (Season 2) || Netflix || 3.5/5

A good binge-watch material - implausible storyline, lots of intrigue, fast paced, and good to forget after watching it.

If you had forgotten Season 1 (like me ), be sure to catch up with one of the several recap videos on YouTube.

Black Warrant Netflix

The best series I have watched after the brilliant Patallok. As mobike008 already mentioned above, it’s a riveting story about the real life incidents that happened inside Tihar jail during the early eighties. Coming from Vikramaditya Motwane, I expected the series to be good but it is simply brilliant.

Absolutely spot on cast and a superlative debut by Zahan Kapoor. Rahul Bhat is one actor who I want see more but alas, he will only find himself casted by the likes of Anurag Kashyap and his ilk only. He just aces his role and produces another masterful class after Ugly. Rest of the cast including Tota Roy Choudhury is also apt. Must watch. The series is a grim reminder of how Indian jails function and I can’t wait to see the next season. Have to read the book now as well.

Rating: 5/5.

From : Amazon Prime

If someone wants to watch a Horror cum Mysterious web series than I would recommend "From", its an underrated series, 3 seasons available on Amazon Prime.

Thers is a village somewhere in the USA, if someone comes to this village, he can't go back from here, everyone should get into their houses before sunset.

The series shows, how people survive here, who are stuck here since long time.

My Rating : 4 / 5

Re: The TV / Streaming shows thread (no spoilers please)

The Agency draws its inspiration from Le Bureau des Légendes and having watched 2 seasons of the Le Bureau, I was interested in checking how the characters and storyline have been adapted in The Agency. 3 episodes down and I would recommend the Le Bureau over The Agency for one simple reason - Michael Fassbender, just doesn't seem to carry the story.

I'd rate it a 10 on 10. About to finish all seasons. The Europeans are much ahead in cinema as well as books when it comes to this genre.
The series just swayed me.

This has a all the ingredients for a good espionage series and hopefully maintains the momentum it has garnered up till now. Personally it grew on me only after couple of episodes.

Black Warrant on Netflix.

Goosebumps and more goosebumps!

Netflix has definitely started this year on a high with this gripping series which uncovers life inside Tihar Jail in the early 80s. Everything from the screenplay to the cinematography has been executed so well that you don't feel like turning away from the screen even for a second. The entire cast seemed to be tailor-made exactly for the roles they were cast in; all the actors have embodied the perfect nuance of the character they are portraying.

P.s. The concluding sequence in the last episode is the cherry on top!

+1 to the recommendation for From...especially liked the first 2 seasons and the intrigue built ....started 3rd season and watched couple of episodes and got a little bored - will still probably finish it but gets too much into drama in the 3rd season for my liking

Paatal Lok S2 (Prime Video)

4/5

Quite a long wait for the second season - 4.5 years! I think I loved the first season more due to the setting and the darker storyline. Liked how the storyline and characters were intricately weaved in this one. Jaideep Ahlawat aced his role; loved his occasional humorous responses.

Here’s a blooper I noticed:

(Number plate on the car in the mirror doesn’t have the characters mirrored)

Re: The TV / Streaming shows thread (no spoilers please)

Cross = 2.5 stars

Available on Prime Video, its a typical catching a serial killer series. The 8 epsides could have easily been compressed to 5. It starts and ends well, but is a drag in the middle.

Re: The TV / Streaming shows thread (no spoilers please)

Ok, I might be the only one here but I found Black Warrant to be only 3 stars.
Could be the high expectations that were set with positive reviews all round.

PS: I have seen 3 episodes till now. Hope it improves.

Re: The TV / Streaming shows thread (no spoilers please)

Paatal Lok (Season 2) Amazon Prime

Another riveting season after the brilliant first one. This one has more political sauce with deceit, betrayal, revenge thrown in equal measure. The setting has moved to Nagaland and it was wonderful to see Nagamese being brought into a main stream series so strongly. The story is gripping and the screenplay is the banger.

The inspired casting is another strong point of the series. The casting of Jahnu Barua- the acclaimed director and Prashant Tamang- the reality show winning singer, both are inspired choices. It was good to see Nagesh Kukunoor back as well. Tilottama Shome as the Nagaland cop is in her top form with she getting the diction of the character absolutely right.

The situation of the North East and the struggles of the people have been intricately woven into the script. The issues faced by the non tribals are also shown brilliantly. The mood, the setting, everything is top class. Some of the dialogues will remain with you long after the series is over. No wonder it almost took five years for the second season to come.

And what to say about Jaideep Ahlawat- he practically continues to be Hathiram Choudhary. He along with Ishwak Singh remain the heartbeat of the series. In fact, some memorable scenes are between those two only. One special heartwarming scene inside the car between the two, remain my favourite from the whole series. Top class stuff. Highly recommended watch.

Day of the Jackal

Streaming: Jio Cinema

Quite a rivetting series about the world's most famous assassin played by Eddie Redmayne. The series is a masterclass and keeps you glued through all the episodes. There is a softer side of the assassin also shown. The cat and mouse game between the assasin and the agents is very well depicted.
