Dabba Cartel – Netflix – 2/5
Found it comical, watched 3 episodes and couldn't continue.

Suzhal - The Vortex S2 (Tamil) – Prime Video – 4/5
I pretty much liked it, not comparing it with season 1, which I vaguely remember now, the twists and all keep one guessing till the second last episode, very nicely made, similar to season 1, the cinematography and story telling is pretty similar, enjoyed this more than pataal lok season 2.

Thanks for this recomendation. Would rate is a 4.5/5 for the tight storytelling and acting, especially Kaitlyn Dever, who delivers a knockout performance as Belle Gibson. Its just so surprising that she got away with scamming thousands of people.

Season 3 of the absolutely stellar series, The White Lotus, came out a couple of weekends ago (episode 3 aired yesterday). Agonizingly, it follows the one-episode-per-week pattern.

It is yet to warm up but seems poised to live up to its reputation.

Suzhal 2 - 2025

8/10

I've watched Suzhal 1 before but don't really remember much of it. Watched S2 without much expectation but it turned out good. The slow burning thriller plot, that keep changing winds. Kathir played his role very well. Good writing from Pushkar and Gayathri.

The first season was a banger ..second not so much but if you have good things to say about the third season, will look forward to it. It has come to Hotstar but I will wait to see all the episodes at one go

I stopped at Episode 3. The build up was tense and I thought it would lead to something but the episodes soon started to go deep into the backstories of some of the characters losing track of the plot. I ended my binge-session right there.
If I may patience I will pick it up again.

I did start seeing it for De Niro but he can't be the only reason to watch it.

I agree. We started watching it just for De Niro and the trailer that evoked interest, but once we started watching the series itself, I constantly found myself distracted by other stuff and feeling I cant be bothered.

We may end up completing it at some point but there will certainly be no binge watching involved.

Same pinch! The trailer evoked my interest and especially the casting of De Niro. Alas! This turned out to be a damp squib. The plot is all over the place with no clear direction. Very haphazard, IMHO. I strained myself till Ep.3, but just couldn't carry on. This might be one of those shows which I leave midway and never come back to continue. Rather disappointing, really!

One thing to note- I've always hated the cliché'd line - "in an investigation, details matter". I'd hated it by end of S2. Gladly, that line hasn't made it to S3 yet.
Is it just me or anyone else feels that the current season of Reacher is not interesting in any ways. The story seems to be loose. The brute brawn of Reacher is not coming out loudly in the latest season. But still have been seeing the episodes with the hope that the new episode will have something interesting. Waiting for a new episode after a week is a pain.

The cliched line in this season is "In an investigation, don't make assumptions".

you're not alone. I have the similar feeling about S3. We'll wait and see.

I'm waiting anymore. I'll get back to it after all the episodes have been released.

Correction. the line is ''in an investigation, assumptions kill''. It is still as irritating. There is a reddit thread only on this. lol.

I hate that line. Also, that line when he speaks seems so out of context coming from his mouth. We need some action soon. For some reason when I see him I always remember 'David Puddy' from Seinfeld. Something in the way he talks and looks

I agree. There is such a thing as mucho de niro for some.

While we are on topic of semi-retired movie stars attempting TV- for all of you Sly Stallone fans, there is Tulsa King seasons 1 and 2 on JioHotstar.

I'd be lying if I said both are equally good. Season 1 is good- Stallone does act. The location and photography of the American South is always a treat (plus the music). The story in season 1 is newish (exiled mafia member who has a human side to him, fighting for many things - his life, love, to be understood, etc). The same thing in season 2 is a drag - it also feels slower. I finished season 1, but in season 2 I am struggling to get past episode 3.

Re: The TV / Streaming shows thread (no spoilers please)

Reacher- Season 3
OTT : Amazon Prime
5/5

I got back into the country a couple of days ago and was pleasantly surprised to see S3 was streaming. I immediately jumped on to it and completed 3 episodes.

Firstly, I'm blown as this is probably the most gripping of the 3-seasons yet. And, this series is getting better and better each season.

I'm a huge fan of Lee Child and have read most of his books. After the series, now I have decided to collect the paperbacks (They are darn expensive here in US).

No amount of praise for Alan Ritchson is enough for living Jack's character to the T. When reading his books, I always envisaged a gigantic muscular man as the wandering MP. And, he fits the role to the core (especially when you see him stripped to his undies..lol)

Episode 3 has a fight scene with 3 local "goondas". It shows his power and ease with which he disposes off people. ...Book always quotes that when he hits someone, they stay "hit".

Cheers to Reacher Season 3 and I can't wait to complete all episodes.

I was reading this a couple of weeks ago which is what S1 was based on.
