It's really not bad, and makes for a good dinnertime watch, and ends with a cliffhanger.
Yea I did that; I found it having too many threads going around un-necessarily. The direction isn't that good; plus the episodes were too short to make any sense. I felt the whole 6 episodes could be summed up in a one hour session. I stick with my rating; in fact I'd probably reduce it to 2/5.

re: The TV / Streaming shows thread (no spoilers please)

Luther Season 5 is up on Prime.

Luther seasons are 4 to max 6 episodes per season, and they are very well made. I would strongly recommend to people who like detective/investigative series.

Season 5 is apparently just 3 episodes. Done with the first one and was quite impressed.
Lets see how they wrap this up.

PS: After season 4, I had thought that they are done with this franchise, so was pleasantly surprised when I saw a pop up from Prime on Luther's new season.

re: The TV / Streaming shows thread (no spoilers please)

I chanced upon a series called "Happy!" at Netflix. It is about an ex-cop who turns rogue who sees an imaginary friend, a purple unicorn. Together with this unicorn, he proceeds to save his daughter from a kidnapper. The series is brilliant and the screenwriter is very ... err.... Twisted. Some of the scenes look like it is out of a fetish porn directors dream. Strictly 18+, forget watching with family members. The comedy is very subtle and mature and is not the slap stick kind. Kind of reminded me of the old die hard films at times.

Marvels The Punisher Season 2

Now live on Netflix.

Three episodes in and it is action packed as always.
Here Frank is caught in the wrong place and saves a young girl who has some secrets of her own.
Hope to binge through the weekend.

PS - Just wanted to point out, Netflix has a very bad track record cancelling Marvel series that fans have loved.
Western media already speculating that this may be the last season of The Punisher.

Television shows: What do you watch? (No Spoilers Please)

Just binge watched The Kominsky Method on Friday. It's on Netflix.
I would rate it 3.5/5. The acting and dialogues are pure gold.

Worth a lazy Sunday watch. It has 8 episodes, 45 minutes each.

Also Lucifer is now on Netflix. I finished season 3 too now.

Now for some recommendations of comedy series from your side.

First two episodes are good.
Going back to basics. Flashbacks and the present.
Investigating missing children in the Ozarks.
Only this time we have a black detective - Mahershala Ali - who was awesome as Remy Denton on House Of Cards.

Nice, thanks - almost overlooked this! Will catch up on Season 2 over the weekend. I'm assuming it's going to more or less continue the story-line with recurring characters, & not switch to something totally different?

Any fans of Westworld on here? I'm just finishing up with Season 2 & was wondering whether there's any update on Season 3.

re: The TV / Streaming shows thread (no spoilers please)

YouTube has a premium streaming service which supposedly has a few very good series.
Two that I am eager to watch are
1. Cobra Kai - this is the continuation of the older Karate Kid movie (not the Will Smith produced one)
2. Wayne - a new series written and made by the people who brought us Deadpool.
And a lot more.
Not sure how to access these series in India. If any member has any information, would be obliged.

Finished season 2 of The Punisher.

More or less as brutal as the first one.
Does not let up on the action.
This time he has to protect a young girl who has some thing that some very powerful people are after. (No spoilers so going to leave it at that)
And his frenemy from Season 1 - Billy Russo - is also after him.
Very good set pieces in most episodes.
Worth watching for sure.

The Mentalist ( Available on Amazon Prime ) 4/5
Patrick Jane acts as the Mentalist , who has a special gift of solving crime scene investigation though his special abilities in figuring out people and situations.
He does this in a very light hearted casual non serious approach to everything.

It is not a new series, but noticed that it was not on this thread.

Grand Tour -
Season 3 (Amazon prime) started on 18th January. Everyone's favourite trio is back with a bang. What a fantastic first episode.

Breathe -
I liked Breathe a lot, considering its the first made in India web series. Presentation is excellent, background score is very good. Madhavan has done a decent job, though I feel should work on his physique.

I am also catching up with season 9,10 &11 of "The Big Bang Theory" on Hotstar. I might be THE only one here who thinks TBBT is still funny. Some of the current shows which claim to be funny, are probably only 50% as funny as TBBT. Kudos to the script writers. Of course there are some questionable things happening, but it's a fictional comedy, who cares. Just laugh it out.

Since you are a fan of The Big Bang Theory, I would suggest you watch "Young Sheldon" available on Amazon Prime, if you aren't already watching.
The series introduces us to Sheldon as a young school going boy.
His sister has the best lines and is a great young actress too.

Isn't that obvious? we don't miss a single episode of Young Sheldon too. Except the actors, most of the crew is carried over from TBBT. Young Sheldon's father appeared as Leonard's friend in one episode. Actress who plays Young Sheldon's mother is actual daughter of actress who plays Senior Sheldon's mother.

re: The TV / Streaming shows thread (no spoilers please)

Anyone who's seen The Goldbergs can immediately see where Young Sheldon has been copied from. I did try to give Young Sheldon a chance, despite my hatred for Chuck Lorre and his comedic style.. I'm neutral about it.

This is a show that is neither funny nor dramatic, its just a plain ol family show that offends no one (almost) and pleases all. Though I do not like Sheldon as a character, the boy who plays him mirrors him exactly and that takes some talent, the rest is all plain vanilla.

Two and A Half Men is the only success that has come from Chuck Lorre, and that was all due to Charlie Sheen who carried the cast single handed, the minute he exited it became a bad montage of poorly written jokes.

To me comedy should be offensive, thought provoking and an exaggeration of everything that is bad on this earth, from racism, feminism, political incorrectness, typical human selfishness etc, that's how Seinfeld is the all-time best to me. Comedies today (except for It's Always Sunny in Philadelhpia) are all about inclusivity, kindness, sunshine and political correctness, what do I laugh at?

I would recommend it to, brilliant it is. The fun fact that I started watching it just like this, not being aware about its being a prequel to Big Bang Theory, I haven't watched it yet apart from some snippets on FB.

I am currently watch "Better Call Saul". It is a prequel to "The Breaking Bad" which I recently concluded watching. It is slow burner but engaging nonetheless.
