Jack Ryan Season 2 : 2.5 / 5

After the utterly fantastic season 1, this turns out to be a complete failure. No logic in the storyline, Jack and his team literally become movie heroes; with the ability to take down enemy forces in much larger quantities, dodge bullets effortlessly while they always hit the target on the first bullet and make this a masala saga with all the emotions thrown it.

There is no connection to the first series at all; and while the flow is good to binge-watch it, the series was a big disappointment with respect to the expectations!

+1

I finished watching Season 2 with great expectations and it turned out such a huge disappointment. The writing/screenplay is very poor, feels like a B-grade Bollywood movie script with no logic whatsoever.

The visuals, cinematography and action sequences are very well shot and the only saving grace. I would rate it 4/10 (bring generous). The first one was a 9/10 for me. What a fall!

I watched Jack Ryan season 1 and liked it. Any thing similar [intriguing] on Prime?

Have watched half episode of Lockout, will watch whenever time permits, hope its not a downer. Language being Italian is a bummer though.

I hope that Bodyguard is not ruined like Jack Ryan.

Re: The TV / Streaming shows thread (no spoilers please)

I finally managed to finish suits. It was a bit of a bummer to see it end with S09E10. Like losing some old friends. Only thing that was worse than this was the last TG episode, with the elephant in the room.
It did lose steam while Mike was in prison, and when he left. But the rest managed to make it interesting again by about the middle of the 8th season. By the end of the 9th season, I felt that they could pitch in for another season, but alas.

In a similar vein, after finishing up the good wife ages ago, the good fight was interesting as well. But without Alicia, something was missing.
Began watching Mad Men too, but its way too sexist and I am struggling to get past the first two episodes, which might suit the period but is difficult to seat in the current time's mentalities.
Any recommendations for some lightweight series, non-comedies?

Binge-watched Season 2 of The Kominsky Method on Netflix yesterday. I found it as enjoyable as the first season.

I would suggest Bosch series, but looking at how actively you post reviews here, chances are you might have already seen it.

LOL, I haven't even heard of it. And, the series I have watched is on finger tips.
Mirzapur, Family-Man, Jack Ryan, Made in heaven & Man with a Plan and that is it.

But, I am watching Lockout and if one is okay with English subtitles with an Italian accent, I will rate it above Jack Ryan Season 1. Its very engaging though stretched up a bit.

+1 Jack Ryan S2 is quite good. Although Venezuela crisis should have been covered in more detail.

@Sheel, you need to stop what you are watching / doing and start binging Bosch. Also,Broadchurch on Netflix.

Enjoy!

Re: The TV / Streaming shows thread (no spoilers please)

I finished 4 seasons of Bosch and found out that the 5th season is not yet available in India. Got a canned response from Amazon customer support with no clear release date when I emailed them about it.

Glad to hear some positive comments about Season 2 after several negative ones earlier in this thread. At least some parts of it much be good then Looking forward to watching it and will try not to compare with Season 1, to avoid disappointment.
