American director Michael Mann is working on a biopic of a motoring icon. The upcoming movie, called ‘Ferrari’, tells the story of the brand’s founder Enzo Ferrari.



Adam Driver will be seen in the role of Enzo Ferrari. Penelope Cruz plays the role of Enzo’s wife. The star cast also includes Patrick Dempsey as race car driver Piero Taruffi.



According to media reports, the script was written by Mann, along with Troy Kennedy Martin, who also wrote The Italian Job. The movie is set in 1957 as Enzo prepares for the ill-fated Mille Miglia race.

Thanks. Although I would not call myself a huge fan of car movies I have enjoyed some over the years. Noticeably the Movie about Ford and Ferrari.

It is a small miracle nobody has made such a movie about Enzo yet. Interesting guy, from what I understand not very pleasant, but the driving force behind Ferrari for many decades of course.

It will be interesting to see what they make of his little tiff with Lamborghini

Ever since I saw Ferrari's portrayal in Ford vs Ferrari, where he berates Ford, I wanted to see more of the guy on screen. And how apt that he's being played by Adam "Driver". Talk of Nominative Determinism.

This should be a fun watch, as other members rightly pointed out, post Ford vs Ferrari this would be a good continuation for experiencing the dramatic visualisation of the life and times of enzo ferrari. BUT looks like Adam Driver is getting to be a part of all things related to Italian personalities of prominence. I just saw him in the movie Gucci and this will keep playing in my mind when I get to see him in the ferrari movie.

If you can handle the non-HD quality, YouTube does have a nice movie on Enzo. Had seen it a long time ago.

As far as the movie goes, there is a saying "You hit a snake only once". This whole Ford Vs Ferrari snake has been beaten to a pulp.

PS : Joe is of Italian descent so could even manage some Italian. On the down side, he is too old now.

Oh, he can act all right. You should check out his incredible performance in Marriage Story. Got nominated for an Oscar too. That film was like a punch to the gut.

Watch the first trailer of the upcoming "Ferrari" movie

The makers of the upcoming movie, based on Ferrari founder Enzo Ferrari's life, have released the first teaser trailer.

The new film titled; "Ferrari", features Adam Driver, who plays Enzo Ferrari and Penelope Cruze as Luara Ferrari. Directed by Michael Mann, the movie is said to be based on Brock Yates' book - "Enzo Ferrari – The Man and the Machine". The film focuses on the 1957 Mille Miglia, especially the lead-up to the event.

The movie also features Patrick Dempsey as driver Piero Taruffi, Jack O’Connell as Peter Collins, Sarah Gadon as Linda Christian, and Gabrial Leone as Alfonso de Portago. Shailene Woodley plays the role of Enzo's mistress Lina Lardi.

"Ferrari" will be screened at the Venice Film Festival and will hit theatres on December 25, 2023.

I found the trailer to be depressing. It also seems to focus more on Enzo's personal life than his adventures in racing or building the Ferrari. Editing of the trailer also makes it seem very slow paced. Hope the movie is better than the trailer.

thanks for sharing! I am a hardcore movie buff and have watched almost every well-rated movie (IMDB & Rotten Tomatoes) of the last 3 decades. This trailer looks very, very promising. Love the little words spoken, and absolutely love the roar of those glorious Italian motors.

Have a feeling this is going to be an epic movie!

Guys, the movie has been directed by Micheal Mann!

I consider “Heat” and “The Insider” as two of the best movies ever to come out of Hollywood! If you have not watched these two movies, please do so right away. “Heat” has both Robert de niro and Al Pacino ( a rare one, I think they have just done 4-5 movies together, most recent being the Irish man) and its a movie that features both these stalwarts in their prime!

Apart from the above, Micheal Mann has also directed movies like “Public Enemies”, “Miami Vice”, “Tokyo Vice”, “Collateral” etc, so this guy knows to make great movies! Trust him to do a fantastic job with “Ferrari” as well.

But knowing how Micheal mann’s movies work, i presume he will delve a bit more on Enzo’s personality rather than just showing some glitzy cars and racing sequences. Thats not his style.
