My new wheels | The Scorpion FS26 Trike

Finally the social services approved a trike for me to train on. I was shocked when the approval arrived this morning.
In the next few weeks I will pay a deposit of 500 euros and then it will be ordered from Germany.

This will be mine to keep as long as I wish. There is a possibility to replace them every few years and it will only cost me 500 euros if I decide to keep it.

The trike har a Rohloff 9-speed hub gearbox and a Shimano EP800 crank motor.
The battery can last up to 70 km depending on the amount of assistance I use. Top speed is 25 km/hour but this can be increased to 40 with a few tweaks.

She's a beauty.
Have you named her yet?

Did you have an option to choose between Delta and Tadpole configuration? I am glad you chose tadpole. In my opinion it looks way cooler.

Hope you are opting in for safety features such as lights and flags.

Looking forward to your travelogues, and of course more pics and videos.
Drive safe!

I had the option to chose an offroad or a street model. The long street model is faster and looks better. Flags and lights are included and the mirrors. Panniers I will have to buy myself if I need them.
Considering the price of 11,000 euros they are shelling out, I cant complain.
The Windscreen is not included. I have to pay for it if I want one.
I will surely upgrade the lights later on in the autumn.

Re: My new wheels | The Scorpion FS26 Trike

Finally my trike arrived just after Easter and a snow storm started. The hub is a 14 speed Rohloff. Then we had summer weather but woke up to icy roads. So bad that I still have snow tyres on the car. Will replace tomorrow.

I did a few short trips and found out my 74 year old body was rusty. I had to take rests every few kilometers with my legs feeling like jelly. I gradually increased the range to 20 km.

Yesterday I did a trip of 30 km and wanted to do more so I rode out and did another 10 km. Again after I returned home I rode again for another 13 km making a total of 53 kilometers. My legs felt like legs this time. I rode 75 kilometers i 2 days.

I stay close to home on the back roads and some unpaved private roads. The law allows people to use private roads as short cuts by walking or cycling.
So far I have done a bit over 230 km on the trike and maximum speed was 50,2 km/hour.
I try to ride about 10-20 km after work and longer trips in weekends.

Maximum speed. I would have reached 60 had it not been for a cat in the field.

Total mileage so far.

This is a first. My picture has never been online as I provocate neo nazies online. The helmet and glasses should give me some cover.

The area where I live there are many viking graves and whole ships were burried with the dead. Here I passed one.

Nice, so finally, another recumbent trike enthusiast here;

I used to own this: https://bicycleman.com/catrike-speed-recumbent-trike/ Not power-assisted, purely a 1 FMP (one fat-man power) trike.

Cheers

Re: My new wheels | The Scorpion FS26 Trike

I have been busy on the trike. The longest trip in a day was 73 km. Strange that my lungs are holding up as I struggled to put on my shoes before. I got COPD as a reward for chainsmoking for 40 years. I quit in 2009.

I would like to join others who also have 3-wheelers but it looks like I am the only one around where I live. Today I did a timewarp with the GoPro on a bicycle track near my place.
