I am in a sort of quandary, have been a Citibank customer since 1999 and have no major gripe with their service. I used to visit the South End branch and it worked out well for me as these visits very infrequent. Since, then I have relocated overseas and last time I was in Bangalore, I asked them about customers who still have the SB accounts in Citibank but not staying in India and all I got was a totally vague answer about Axis... getting email support is not an easy task. Hoping that the online banking portal remains active. |
I am not sure if you had any particular question about SB account but if its about being an NRI but still want to hold a SB account then it is little strict nowadays. Earlier when I was in US I used to maintain a normal SB account in Citibank and no issues but during my next stint in UK (until 2022), I was asked to convert it to an NRO account asap. This even after my employer here was depositing some part of my UK salary to my Citi account.
Obviously, the above point is moot if your question is not related. :)

Yes, it was the process of converting from Domestic to NRI/NRO account that they were not clear. I am not getting getting any income to the account , but still want to use it for some EMIs etc

Conversion of NRO is simple - login to CBOL, select the account in question and choose "Redesignate as NRO" in the left-side menu. Given your use-cases, I suspect that is exactly what you want.
I think the exit procedure (transfer to AXIS Bank) is complete now.
Received this following email yesterday.
Cheers!

Received same with respect one card i have. I have two Citibank cards, so not sure why same email wasn't sent for both the cards. Also the email is not saying anything new. It says, assignment date is March 31, so technically all accounts were transferred to Axis on March 31 itself.
What i would be interested to know is the eventual migration of all accounts (SB and CC in my case) and any timelines for the same. I don't think Axis will be allowed to use Citi brand forever.

I think we have to wait for their further update. I too had another Citi Reward Card. Closed it back in December and applied for Axis MyZone. They changed it's T&C now for Swiggy minimum limit 199 to 500. They will definitely axe Indian Oil Citi Bank Card down the line. :crying
It was good while it lasted.
I have been a happy customer since 1996 and Citibank credit card was my first credit card. So, I have kept it safely as a memory. :)

Is the citibank server down (unable to login to portal)? Havent seen any email communication regarding the same.
PS: Also had my card declined twice.
Anyone else?

Since a couple of days food apps and digital apps are not connecting to Citi servers. Its prompts to add another bank. Looks like the end of the road for Citi/Axis apps. They may want us to move to the Axis app. Have to wait and watch...

Oh this brings back a lot of memories. I also have been a Citi customer since 1996. It used to be really something those days owning a Citi card. Since I was in sales, it was quite easy to get one. My colleagues who were typically into coding/development were always declined! Never understood the logic. Not banks come to customers to give one. Used to have Diners card back then!
Is there any end to Citi's Credit Card issues?
I recently reset my phone and wanted to reactivate Citi Card on Samsung Pay and Boom! It just doesn't!
Has anyone found any sensible answer from the Customer Care?

Yes they have stopped issuing citi cards and also opening new savings accounts. All queries are being directed to Axis.
