Recently I stumbled upon an interesting website, which I think will be useful.

You sign in (free) and create your own custom maps for whatever data you want.
Like this one I created which shows district wise major highway distribution in MH

These are called choropleths. I used to create them in Excel in 2013-16 timeframe when these sort of websites weren't available.

If you have data that you think can be visualised in choropleths but cannot / will not share the data with third-party websites, there is this software: https://www.amcharts.com/
