That's true - but it helps keep pests away too!

Looks to be a liberal dosage of synonym function usage in Word.
Or : Peruses in the direction of being a laissez-faire measure of synonym utility usage in Word.

Phew. I had to read it twice to understand what it was saying. But I like the different ways two extremes are expressed - "ingenuousness to ingenuity", "degeneration to nirvana" etc. Plus the principal doesn't seem to be very impressed by humanity - calls it the "melee inhabiting the planet". :-)

The spelling errors jar, though. It is spelt diphthong, sir. And garb and grab are different words.

Also, if I recall correctly paeans were sung by choruses and trumpets are predominantly used in jazz circles.

Couldn't read it. Where did that heap of garbage come from? Name names: shame the guilty!

The wise would look at the heading, comment that furniture does not say anything useful, and throw it away without wasting any more time on it!

She had the temerity to end this with "wish you a happy reading" :-)

Anyway, she has a coherent message; just that her choice of words and phrases killed it altogether.

Well said.

Some teachers tend to deliberately mine words from dictionaries as a way of exhibiting their intellect.

A colleague, referring to a question paper, wrote on WhatsApp:

The QP is of that standard - Pretty dyspepsia.

Did she? Devoid of all the garbage for show off, it would have been just a very ordinary message from the Principal. Nothing path breaking or having any depth. But she was able to attain notoriety with the help of software

Agreed, all I said was that she had a coherent message. Not that she had a path breaking message.

Er... actually it was anything but coherent. The thesaurus indicates "coherent" to imply "clear", "lucid" and "articulate". It was none of these.

It looks more like a diarrhoea-afflicted thesaurus took residence within the principal's reach.

Cheers

Er... a thesaurus only lists words that are conceptually related. You need a dictionary. Here is what Cambridge English Dictionary has to say about coherent:

"If an argument, set of ideas, or a plan is coherent, it is clear and carefully considered, and each part of it connects or follows in a natural or reasonable way."

(I agree she fails the clarity test).

Speaking of coherence, I thought it best to share this piece from Reader's Digest:

Quote:
The village blacksmith hired an enthusiastic new apprentice. He instructed the boy

"When I take the shoe out of the fire, I will lay it on the anvil. When I nod my head, you hit it with the hammer."

The apprentice did exactly as he was told, and now he is the new village blacksmith.
