Yes, noticed the same here. The audio is a tad ahead of the video for Wimbledon. I thought they would fix it on their own but looks like they are not bothered.

Thanks to their apathy, Wimbledon watching has been a bit of a killjoy this year, inspite of some great matches and some tantalizing prospects in the next couple of days.

Bumping up an old thread.

Jio Cinema content is now merged with Hotstar content to a new single offering called JioHotstar today.

My Hotstar app got automatically upgraded today to the new app, and I am able to see all Jio content. I had a quarterly (Rs 299/-) Hotstar subscription plan which can be migrated to a new JioHotstar plan after deduction of the remaining balance. I didn't have a Jio Cinema subscription, but I guess they would have taken care of that migration also.

A yearly subscription plan (Rs 1499/-; 5 devices) is totally worth it for this combined offering. While Netflix or Amazon Prime, with their deeper pockets, may withstand the onslaught, smaller OTT players like Sony LIV or Zee5 would get hit badly.

Pathetic streaming quality for the recent CT 2025 matches, especially once the viewership crossed 50Cr. The live stream is delayed by over 3-5 mins, almost 1 over behind, it buffers, then goes to the live action and them reverts to the earlier play. I mean, like how can they get this one wrong so badly. All this while their ads stream perfectly, no buffer, nothing.

I don't have a DTH connection, but probably will get one for just the sports action. Never had this issue earlier, but every time Jio gets something, they spoil the experience. The same happened during the last FIFA WC and now this.

True, due to that freeze/buffering in between end up seeing the matches with a small lag. Got to hear celebratory cheers from the society while the TV was showing the ball before the last four by Jaddu.

One thing I heard in that post match studio chat is them mentioning the concurrent view for the match was at a high of 6 Cr. This happened when the figure shown was 86.7 Cr views. So that 86.7 Cr figure would then be overall view for the stream and not the live count of people watching this (which I thought it was).

Not just live streams, but movies as well. They just freeze and fails to play. Doesn't happen on any other platforms.

I thought it was only me that had this problem. I've restarted the TV and Wi-Fi router multiple times but it seemed to help only for a bit. Ever since the app upgrade to JioHotstar happened, the buffering issue is frequent and it was painful during the CT matches. I had to have Cricbuzz or Cricinfo app on phone open on the side to stay current with live progress.

The English content library is good and hence retaining the subscription, but it's becoming a nuisance when you're trying to wind down at end of day or a lazy weekend afternoon.

Absolutely; a terrible experience overall.

- during an earlier match, language for commentary was stuck on Hindi. Not that English commentary is much better given the esteemed panel, but those doing Hindi are just insufferable
- far too often, the stream got stuck on a loop so you saw the same ball being bowled and the same commentary multiple times
- significantly delayed stream: this was particular a nuisance because my neighbor still has cable and their kids were reacting loudly at each wicket / 4 or 6, so I knew way beforehand what the outcome was going to be two balls ahead. Heck, even Cricinfo was more updated than this stream

I'm sure they'll be spot on during IPL though. :p

I’m happy they’ve merged simply because the app experience seems more Hotstar than Jio - even if the former is underwhelming, the latter was utterly unusable, I mean literally so.

This also means I once again have access to shows I wanted to see like reruns of GOT etc. which I couldn’t while they had migrated to the Jio app.

Streaming quality issues aside, I’m happy to continue with Jio for now. It also shows EPL which I follow so continuing is a no brainer for me, despite them falling overall short of experience on other apps like Netflix and even Amazon Prime.

Most of the movies when I try to watch in my PC, this is the error message

What on earth is Hotstar doing? Is the subscription worth it anymore-error.jpg

Few days back when my son was trying to watch the new Spiderman Animation series it just went on giving "Suspicious activity detected and account closed for 24 hours", My son just went back to home and came back watching it again, he did this for 4-5 times and then gave up.

I will not renew the membership for sure :thumbsdown

I'm happy with this merger given the list of movies and shows have increased (plus the additional sports). But what bugs me is a lot of the Hollywood movies coming from Jio side has only Hindi language and only realize it once the movie starts. I wish Jio/Hotstar would also offer English on these movies.

This was the major reason I stopped viewing JioCinema/ Jio TV years back. English movie channels disappeared one after another from Jio TV. Original English Disney cartoons were replaced by Hindi versions on JioCinema. English movie options kept decreasing.

Not just movies, -- excellent English documentaries were ruined by Hindi-dubbed versions with poor dubbing quality!

Now, after the JioCinema --> Jio Hotstar transformation I was trying to re-watch a Hindi serial I had liked earlier (I have a Jio subscription, so this was still free).

What a horrible experience! Frequent ads every few minutes kept on interrupting the program (unlike earlier). Not only that, often the software would forget the current location after an ad break, and the serial would restart all over again from the begining!

Of course, this bug can't continue, and would be fixed soon (hopefully). But I am not keen on even trying the paid version anymore. I have much better options available.
