Your favourite automotive gifts

I'm sure a that lot of the people close to us would know about our fascination with automobiles. Hence, I'm starting this thread for you to show the best automotive gifts you've been given by them (it can be for any occasion; there being none also works). They can be the "best" for any reason (high quality, thoughtful, useful, etc.) according to you.

I'll start off with a few of mine.
  • Drawing of a car:
Probably the most unique is this wonderful drawing of a Porsche Panamera made by one of my dear friends from school using grey alcohol markers and a white gel pen (I blurred out the licence plate since it has my name on it; another wonderful touch! ).

  • Scale models:
I was also gifted some very high quality 1:36 scale models of a Mercedes SLS AMG and a Ford Mustang for my birthday once (two of my dream cars).

  • F1 souvenir:
The oldest of such gifts I still have with me is this model of an F1 car from 2011 (my dad was originally given this by work at the race in Greater Noida and he later gifted it to me).

Anyways, enough about me for now, I invite all fellow BHPians to comment theirs below! (Actually, these are all that I have with me physically, there are a couple more that I don't know the location of; I will post them if I find them).

Mods, I did perform a search but could not find a topic like this. Please do as you see fit if one does exist.

Re: Your favourite automotive gifts

Man, I have so many automotive gifts that it'll be impossible to list. Most people in my circle know me as a car guy, so I get a ton of them.

Listing the easiest-to-remember ones.

- A tyre paperweight that beloved Moderator Rtech gifted me in 2004. It's still used as a "daily" on my desk.

- A Ford Mustang number plate with "R U S H" written on it, as a gift from Ford.

- A number-plate with "Team-BHP" embossed on it. Gift from Rehaan. It's used in my hall. And a "GTO's BHP?" sticker (same style & theme as Got BHP?).

- A Team-BHP logo wall clock gifted by my best friend. Used in my bedroom.

- A Team-BHP-embossed wooden plank. Used in my office.

- 1997 Classic. Gifted by Dad.

- Lewis Hamilton t-shirt, gifted by a childhood friend 5 years back. I still wear it. What quality! Its wear & tear rate is as slow as a W124.

- 4 glasses on an engine block, gifted by Mahindra. On my office desk.

- A Ferrari fuel-lid ashtray gifted by BHPian Steeroid

There's a lot more, my house is literally full of this stuff! The above list is just from the top of my head (that's a little slow on Saturdays ).

Re: Your favourite automotive gifts

I don't have it now, but the car that really made me drool for the first time was a Porsche 917 battery operated model. I believe it was a cheaper knock-off, which my uncle picked up somewhere in his travels. It was in an unusual Shell white livery - not the light blue and orange original. It would self reverse, had working lights and an openable (back) engine cover.

I had it a year or so before he took it back. He was not being mean - the battery ran out and it was a rectangular block kind of cell we could not get in our place. He took it with him to see if he could get a battery. Then I suppose it fell through the gaps of memory...

Re: Your favourite automotive gifts

I am a fan of VW Beetle and so I keep collecting scaled models. Since my cousins or friends know my interest, they have always presented me different models. Of course, you will see other models but mostly VW beetles

Re: Your favourite automotive gifts

My then 8 year old daughter bought me a bike key ring on my birthday because she knew I wanted a bike but can't due to safety reasons. It was nice!

Re: Your favourite automotive gifts

I got this gift(Yamaha R1 scale model) from a friend in Pune where I was big time into biking scene. Most of my Pune memories are around bikes and bike-trips with like minded folks. Still have it and quite a few more in my scale model collection.

Re: Your favourite automotive gifts

Ofcourse I am grateful for all the scale models that were gifted to me by friends and family when I was growing up but my all time favorite gift I got was from my Dad way back sometime around 2005 or 2006. It was a yellow Lego RC Dirt Crusher. The thing smoked every other kid in the neighborhood's RC cars and the best part was that it could handle some serious offroading so I would take it with me on trips wherever I went just to blow off some steam and drift it about the place. Still with me but haven't used it in a while this thread just reminded me that I need to take it out and start playing with it again.

Couldn't stop noticing those wonderful 'Duster' scale models. Any clue where one can procure them?
My wife loves The Duster. I've been trying to find good examples on the internet, but all in vain. It'd be a great gift for her upcoming birthday!

Thanks.

These are gifted to me by my friends living in UK. You can find the Duster scale models in amazon.uk.

Earlier the Solido 1:18 Dacia Duster was also available in scaleartsin.com too, but now it's sold out.

Re: Your favourite automotive gifts

Have a lot of stuff over the years, will list them out soon. But this is something I got recently. We just shifted to a new home and I'm setting up my room. Got this Ferrari F1 carpet with a pit stop design. Looks quite swell I think.
