Luckily AASICS does have shoes lower down the price bracket which also offer some form of stability control. At the moment I use the Kayano Gel series. Great shoes!
I run regularly and my favourite shoes so far has been the Asics Gel-Nimbus. I've also had the Decathlon Kiprun KD500 which was a decent pair of running shoes for 10k runs. My most recent one is the Nike Juniper Trail 2 which is meant for trail running but isn't very comfortable. For lifestyle sneakers, i own the Adidas Samba OG and Superstar and i prefer them over the Nike Jordans or Dunks any day.
I am a relatively new(but currently regular) runner.
I started off with existing trainer/gym sneakers that I had with me - Puma Jamming 2.0. Though comfortable, they weren't suited for running. This pair is currently my daily work-horse.
As I got more into running over the year, got the following in that order:-
- New Balance Fresh Foam V4: Very comfortable for slow to medium paced runs. I use these for regular walks as well. But since i was overweight(at the time), I frequently had runner's knee pain.
- New Balance Fuel Cell Rebel V3: Very fast and responsive. Felt like running on a sponge(literally). Got these for €100. My knees thanked me for these. Unfortunately, cannot do long runs(10+km) on them. Very narrow toe box meant having blisters at the end of longer runs.
- Hoka Bondi 8 Wide: Latest shoe. Bought online for €135. Heavier than both the above, but wide toe box means more comfort. Its also a match with the NB Fresh Foam on the cushioning, though I feel the responsiveness could have been better. Still, my personal best timing has been with this shoe.
Any advice on tennis shoes? I have just taken to the sport, so need something durable and good, nothing fancy or 'branded'. Thanks!
I was hit by the walking / running bug during Covid break out - lost my job and was sitting idle at home. Started walking as a time-pass activity. However slowly it became a part of life - its been 3 years now and I cover min 10,000 steps a day - no matter what.
Sketchers acted like a true buddy during my 3 years journey with variants like "Go Pro 6 / 9" "Arch Fit" and the most comfortable was "Maxx Cushioning".
Their one of the biggest factory outlet is near Moti Nagar - Delhi.
Note: I have extra wide feet - sizing UK 12 - so always left with limited options with Adidas / Nike - but Sketchers mostly have couple of options for my size.

My 2 cents of knowledge gathered over the years.
Foot pronation and foot overall dimensions play a very important role in selecting the right shoes. And running shoes should not be mixed up with walking shoes and both them should not be mixed up with casual sneakers.
Foot pronation:
Pronation is common and what is left to be figured out is if you are an over pronator or and under pronator. Check any old shoe to see where the max wear out it.
You need cushioning to compensate for this to ensure the shock is properly absorbed.
Foot dimensions:
Broad mid section, narrow mid section, flat foot etc.
Toe box and mid section play a very important role in overall comfort of the shoes. You need to compensate for expansion of the foot during runs. It is recommended to go one size above your measured size for running and walking. And same size if using it for casual outings/office settings.
Ask your friend or gym trainer to video shoot you when running on the treadmill. How your foot hits the ground plays an important role in figuring out where you need the cushioning more.
Size measurement and Trying out shoes:
If prone to water retention near foot (edema ) due to either medication or maybe a high salt diet the previous day etc..do not try shoes. Wait until the water is shed out. Same with trying out shoes after a long day at work. A slight swell is expected and what seems a perfect fit will turn out uncomfortable later.
Take your socks for trying out. Do not try shoes bare foot or try with a nylon socks given by the store but you usually use cotton socks.

Picked up this pair of Nike (my first pair in over a decade - Adidas just fit my feet better) sneakers last month:
Simple clean looking all white sneakers. If shoes were cars this pair would be the Mahindra Thar. Look very close to the Air Force 1 and come at half the price!

Nike Court Vision Lo. Bought them at a store for 4K after 20 percent discount on the 5K MRP. Incase you're going to order online be sure to order a size smaller from your size in Adidas and Puma.

I had a ligament tear 4 years ago, followed by an accident the very next year which broke my back (fractured L1 in the vertebrae) due to which I have constant back and knee pain issues, and have been putting on weight ever since due to zero exercise. Also, i had been a smoker for 25 years and recently quit 4 months ago. I am thinking of buying these and start with some light jogging atleast, as much as my body allows. I am looking for as much cushioning as possible due to my current body condition and these appear to be perfect for my needs.
Can you possibly let me know if these are flat feet friendly and do I need to buy a size bigger than normal? As in, does it fit too tight for a slightly wider foot?
While not a running shoe question, I hope folks can offer some suggestions.
My wife needs a pair of shoes for her home workout. Yoga, Cardio and Skipping. What would be a decent option at say 2k/3k a pair?

Yoga: Please do bare feet
Cardio: Any training shoe can be used. See

Skipping: Can be done bare feet too. If not, cardio shoes can be used
