Re: The 2023 Cricket World Cup

South Africa in knockouts don’t need any trigger, they just start choking from the word go!
Their game is also so predictable when they usually end up on the winning side- bat first, put up a big total and restrict the opposition. If they lose the top 3 or 4 wickets quickly, they’re almost done and this becomes even more exacerbated when chasing!

Get ready for India-Australia final!
I expect Australia to chase this down in under 40 overs.

The Man of the Tournament has to be Hardik Pandya! I don't think we would have been so dominant with the ball if not for his injury which forced the Team Management to play Shami.

The two of the strongest teams are going to be in the finals. It has to be this way. No one should complain. Let the best team win. I will be shouting from the top of my lungs for India as many here will be. Just one more to go. Come one INDIA

Eden pitch playing tricks again and with almost ten overs of spin remaining from Shamsi and Maharaj, this match is not over and done yet !! I will be much happy to see South Africa rise from the ashes tonight

I still think South Africa have too less to defend and Australia should be able to chase this down successfully. They may struggle though and take it deep.
The only way South Africa can win is by getting Australia all out with some more great bowling and fielding. Will Australia now choke, that’s something to wait and see!

Edit: Australia need 51 to win with 5 wickets remaining.

Australia are throwing this away, except for Steve Smith

Re: The 2023 Cricket World Cup

SA needs to show the fighting spirit they showed in Pakistan match. That one was a nail-biter, ofcourse after almost throwing it away they managed to win it. Hoping something similar here as well. Go SA go, remove that choker tag

Re: The 2023 Cricket World Cup

South Africa don't have adequate runs on board unfortunately. Would have been an entirely different story if they were chasing something closer to 300.

Re: The 2023 Cricket World Cup

Atrocious captaincy by Bavuma, they can only win it by taking all the wickets and not by defending runs. They need to attack and place fielders in catching positions, too many chances created already and all lost !!

I so feel for Coetzee who is bowling his heart out. Only if the field placements supported him !!

Alright then, time to bury ghosts of 2003.

Will india be tempted to play Ashwin ahead of Siraj is the only question that needs answering.

Re: The 2023 Cricket World Cup

What a game , it's always the nailbiting semi-finals isn't it. Finals mostly have been one sided affairs in recent past, except 2019 ofcourse.Hopefully that's how it stays this time too

Re: The 2023 Cricket World Cup

Temba Bavuma should not have played in this match in my opinion. His fitness was doubtful and his form is awful. A lot of credit goes to him for RSA loss today. Really disappointed.

So finally, we have to knock Australia out again to win the WC like we did in QF of 2011. Lets do this one more time!!

Re: The 2023 Cricket World Cup

What a match it was! Two contrasting semis, both absolutely entertaining nonetheless.

South Africa loses yet again in the knockout stage, hard luck! Gerald Coetzee bowled his heart out, no doubt, but what was he thinking when he did not take the DRS after being wrongly given out? Had he taken the review, in partnership with Miller, they could have added 20-25 extra runs, which would have certainly made a big difference. Also, as already opined, Bavuma's captaincy was mediocre, to say the least.
