It's not a failure, it's steps to success. There's always steps to it. Michael Jordan played for 15 years and won 6 championships. The other 9 years were a failure? That's what you're telling me.

There's no failure in sports. There's good days, bad days, some days you are able to be successful, some days you're not, some days it's your turn, some days it's not your turn. That's what sport's about. You don't always win, some other people are gonna win. And this year, someone else is gonna win. Simple as that.

So 50 years from 1971-2021 that we didn't win a championship, it was 50 years of failure? No it was not, there were steps to it, and we were able to win one, hopefully we can win another one.
Beautiful words and quite true in Sports. Our issue is most of us are quite emotional and take the success and failures in extreme. This is primary difference between us and Aussies. Look at them throughout the match. They were focused and determined, no emotions on display, just professionalism to win. Even after winning the Cup there wasn't any exaggerated celebrations or antics. Like I said before bcci needs to appoint a sports psychologist who can make our players understand how to deal with emotions in knockout and just stay focused on the goal. Skill wise there never was an issue, if they didn't had skills there won't be 10 out of 10 wins. Just they forgot their skills in finals is a mental hurdle.

It was awful to look at Pat Cummins for those few minutes. I saw the presentation live and not some video clip !!
It was the most disgraceful cup ceremony ever. If people can’t see it, then either they are biased or they have never played a team sport ever !!
Imagine being left alone on a podium during the greatest moment of a player so that the chief guest can shake hands with the rest of the players. It should have been done earlier but then who cares. The Australian players just couldn’t wait to go their captain in their finest hour, so much so they were in no mood for any handshakes.
Thank you for saying it as it is. Graciousness and being hospitable to guests was in short supply in this World Cup and the organizers and their very obviously political backers are to blame for setting the tone. As the Sydney Herald wrote half way through the tournament the BCCI & Co. took the 'World' bit out of the World Cup. As politics is off the table at Team BHP I will not comment on the BCCI Secretary and his credentials. The fact that the Secretary of the BCCI and not the President ie Roger Binny accompanied the P.M. to the podium reflects on attitudes and tone.

Re: The 2023 Cricket World Cup

It is many times that the best team (or individual) don't get podium finish.

In 1983 the W.I. team, the invincibles, was the best team. But India won the cup.

It is the same now. Let us accept this and move on.
