Agreed.

Those who called me repeatedly had details of my employment as well. This is what made me point the finger at the dealership since the employment details were filled only in the booking related forms and not RTO.

Re: ClubResorto not refunding my money | Many BHPians report data leak from car dealerships

I can very well relate to your ordeal.

Mine was an experience with TATA housing, its really hard to believe, but the fact is I booked a house with them in 2015. The sales team created an impression as if I might loose the location that I prefer and a sense of urgency to pay booking amount for reserving the house of my choice.

Name and reputation of TATA group was used for creating trust, and terms and conditions of purchase were promised to be sent later on mail, which I received after too many follow up calls.

After receiving terms and conditions, I refused to go ahead with purchase and asked for refund. I was told that the booking amount is non refundable, and after that they stopped taking my calls.

Numerous mails to TATA housing were never answered.

So net-net, I learned a lesson for rupees 30000/-, people getting education at MBA institutes learn only one thing, make money, get business, ethics and empathy has no meaning if you are running a business.

Since then, I understand, no matter how desperately you need something, if the seller is repeatedly asking for money or trying to create an impression that, if a confirmation is not done immediately, a good offer might be lost, I just do not need to buy that thing at that time and it will be better to wait.

Request to members who run business or in any profession where goods are purchased by the end user by paying a booking amount or full payment in advance, please help me understand:

1. Why are the terms and conditions of sale mentioned on the receipt of payment (which a customer gets only after paying the money).

2. Why do the sales executives refuse to share the terms and conditions while discussions are being done to finalise the deal.

Even the terms and conditions for a loan from a bank are mentioned on the application form which you get after paying the processing fee, a bank official will never provide you the details while you discuss the deal, he might share these details (will pretend that it was very difficult for him) only if you insist.

The best reasoning I heard from a bank employee - Sir the terms and conditions are mentioned on the application form and I can print the form only after processing fees has been paid.

Cheers.

Re: ClubResorto not refunding my money | Many BHPians report data leak from car dealerships

I bought a Hyundai and a Honda on the same day.

I have been getting fake roadside assistance and timeshare calls linked to the Hyundai. The car belongs to my mother but I used my phone number anticipating all this.

Hyundai insist on their 5 star rating but I only give them 4 due to this. They've gone ballistic!

I’ve had a similar experience after buying my MG Hector recently. They are calling to offer RSA for 15 years at the cost of only ₹3,000. They sound as if calling from Jubiliant Motors.

I reached out to the showroom and asked them if this is an offer from MG. They told me it’s a scam and you can block the caller.

And similar to many others, I also got calls regarding holiday packages. They even offered a complimentary silver god idol for just attending. I politely refused but they continued their onslaught for almost 2 months every alternate day. And if I blocked one number, they’d call from another.

Be safe everyone. I’m now following the simple rule - if it’s too good to be true, it definitely is a scam.

I also recieved similar calls. However I genuinely didn't had time else I would have visited them for the free food and drinks, if any. I knew of the scam and had to reject the invitation. Else the family party would have been on them.

I never attended this, however, if you can mention if there was free food or not then maybe people can at least use it for their benefits.

There is plenty of food; HOWEVER!

However, you don't get to enjoy it in peace.

Their modus operandi is quite interesting. They offer you the customary coffee/tea and engage you with the sales pitch. Meanwhile, others who have agreed to get a membership and have paid the first instalment would be enjoying sumptuous food in adjoining tables. Until you budge, nothing other than the initial cuppa comes your way. It is a mind game that the scamsters would have perfected over many such sessions. Unless you too are a pro at this who blinks first charade, you will start feeling ill at ease and will be looking for a quiet exit from the place.

This was the experience with Club Mahindra; mine and quite a few of my friends'.
