Re: The Eternal Stupid Question " what would you like on your birthday"

DOB- 7th April. (My 18th bday in 2011).
What I wanted : A white VW Polo or Red Chevy Beat.
What I got : Pre-worshipped Chevy Spark But I'm still happy

I like birthdays but I hate answering everyone's calls for the bday wishes and saying thanks and stuff.

Re: The Eternal Stupid Question " what would you like on your birthday"

I hate celebrating my birthday too, like some others have commented earlier. I dont really understand what is celebratory about having been born on that day I am one of those who hate too much attention on oneself, and hence for the past 12-3 years (since I moved to Bangalore), I have hardly celebrated a birthday. In fact, most of the times its just been normal work days.

As for gifts, well who does not like them, birthday or not. Didnt get much, just some wishes and cake in office. What I wanted? Well - a pair of good running/workout shoes.

I am one among you . I also hate celebrating birthday . I don't remember celebrating my birthday in past 10 years . But ended up celebrating it because of my friends by cutting cakes and treating them on my birthday this year .

Re: The Eternal Stupid Question " what would you like on your birthday"

May 29th ...what I would love NOT to get is an impersonal, drab automated email from our in-house IT systems with a impersonal message , giddiness inducing graphics with a digital signature of my boss and his boss. And, not to CC people whom I dont know and dont really want to know as well...

What I would love to get is ... a good game of badminton or cricket...

Re: The Eternal Stupid Question " what would you like on your birthday"

Date of birth - 03rd April
What I wanted - Apple Iphone
What I got - Aluminium/Steel water bottle engraved with my name on it; from my office

I don't hate birthdays as a rule, but I do hate the attention. In our office it's a big affair. The group head comes and hands over the water bottle and a card signed by everyone, and then the cake cutting happens. In front of the entire department. Trust me, I eat at-least 15-20 different varieties of cakes a month

It's common in all office . They celebrate more on our birthday than us .
There is nothing to celebrate on ones birthday . I am not offending anyone but I personally see that there is on valid reason behind celebrating birthday .

Re: The Eternal Stupid Question " what would you like on your birthday"

Mid night cake cutting is also one thing I hate. Here I come home, tired from work and lay down on the bed to sleep. And just minutes before 12 - the door bell rings. Of course I know what it is about.

This time (My birthday was about a month ago) - I told all my friends/close relatives not to come at midnight for cake cutting.

Another irritating thing about Birthdays is wishing people exactly at Mid-Night. I mean why is it so important to be the first person to wish?

Yeah, that's the same story. Going O.T, for some strange reason, in our office; if anyone has left the organization or is fired, there is a cake cutting ceremony on the last day of that person!! So, nowadays, we first ask if the person is fired or it's a birthday celebration!

One of my friends feels the same way too. He says God has given you another extension, then what's your achievement in it, that you need to celebrate your birthday!
