Out of personal experience with a similar case in the family some time back we realized that a full body PET-CT scan is necessaryto make sure that there isn't any abnormal activity elsewhere in the body any time a local tumor is detected(unfortunately in our case PET-CT was not common that time).
A PET-CT scan is used to 'stage' the cancer. Depending on the extent and location of absorption of radioactive material by tissues, treatment plan is determined. However, a biopsy is the only way to confirm the diagnosis first.

PET-CT is not just uncommon here, it was uncommon all over the world until recently. Its slowly replacint the Gallium Scan test which was conducted earlier (and which required a CT scan separately).

Pleomorphic adenoma is the commonest tumour of parotid gland.Mostly tumour (not cyst)
are of benign nature of this histologic subtype.
Please do not make your self to be lost in the information from internet.
Just ask your Surgeon, what to do,when to do-you have the right to ask him and he is the right person to give your answer as he have removed the tumour, felt its consistensy on his hand and have the expert knowledge.
Donot toss between 2-3 or more surgeons, unless it is mandatory.
