Super Cyclone to Hit Bengal

guys please take care - please see to it that you, your family and your car(s) remain safe and sound - please dont park your cars in low lying areas and keep them @ a higher ground for eg. your office parking lot (if safe)

@ shuvc - you dont wanna repeat the "help baleno under water" thingy

Just a little less than a decade after Orissa was hit by the mother of all cyclones, the weather gods are frowning again — this time on both Bengal and Orissa.
A 'very severe cyclonic storm' is expected to hit the West Bengal-Bangladesh coast near Sagar Island early on Friday. Kolkata, already plagued by the political storm over Nandigram, may have to contend with one more natural and fierce from Thursday evening.

Brothers, take care. It must be a bugger all feeling, watching it head for you and not being able to do much about it. Please stock up on some bare necessities for atleast a couple of days. And please spread the word, I see nothing about it on the news.

It looks probably too close to turn away now.

Damn. Yet another storm to hit Bengal. We're still reeling from Nandigram :(
This looks serious, though there's a 60% chance of the worst of the storm to pass over Bangladesh. But no matter what, we're in for a rough few days.
Take care all.

What measures has the government taken to tackle the cyclone and it's aftermath? Or are they too busy with rejoicing over the take over of Nandigram?

Amazingly, the media has been super silent on this issue. They are the ones that could have pushed the government into action but until yesterday all the channels were busy with Om shanti om, cricket and snippets of a drunk cop making an *** of himself somewhere in UP. I guess these guys want destruction to happen. Then they will sit in their studios and ask questions like "prashashan kya kar raha tha?" and Barkha Dutt will get another award for her superb coverage of the cyclone's aftermath and the human tragedy that it left behind.

Amit, You are spot on about Media... In fact I am frantically trying to catch up some updates on India's premier news websites (NDTV / TOI /HT) and all are busy chasing that goddamn white ball hit by one guy and ran-after by 11 guys, like chickens with heads-cut...
Its a National shame...
You are right.. They just want disaster to happen and make sensational news out if it...
I myself am known as a "staunch media hater" on other forums (like Fropper) and here I am glad there are like minded people.
