Both these points are right. First time, one is extra careful, much less careful and more confident the second time.

I am just trying to imagine how my grandma whould have treated her 7th child.

Sometimes the newborns in this day and age are treated with too much caution. This may inturn build up less immunity in the long run.

I make it a point to eat street food once in a while. I tell my mom I am buliding immunity.
