Sorry dude u'll have to increase ur budget coz for that price the max u can get is a 400 & not a 600 & even if u do am sure it'll be in a pretty bad shape. U may get a Kwacker arnd that price but the spares wud be diff to get

According to me it would be wise to spend around 3 lacs and go in for a 400 rather than the 600. The reason being that there isn't much of a difference between a 600 and a 400 (except acceleration and top speed and few more features which does'nt really matter on Indian roads). Further more if u go in for a 600 you will have to spend about 2-3 lacs more when compared to a 400.
Well, this is my personal perception as i have experienced it.

No way dude will u get a decent 600 for 3L. a good one will cost at least 5. Listen to Dan and go for a nice 400 in that budget.

@dan400: dude there's hell lotta diff between a 400 & a 600, the power band in 400s come in very late & most of the time i city u wont be able to touch the power band, while in 600s the power band is available ate very low RPMs

Look, you're making this statement just because you own a 400 ! I own a CBR 600 so obviously I'd like to defend it with hard facts. I was also advised by a few to go in for the 400 but researched and based on the points given below, took the decision to go in for the 600 instead and I'm very happy with it.

Please don't misguide people by making statements like "there isn't much difference between a 600 & 400 (except acceleration & top speed . . . . "!!!
Helllloooooo, if that does not count what does ??!!
FYI there is a huge difference between the bhp of a 400 & a 600.
A 400 has less than 60 bhp (about 56) and a 600 has more than 100 horses (106 @ 6000 rpm) !!
Isin't it all about speed ??!! Guys spend so much & take such pains to increase the power of their bike by just a couple of bhps, & here we're talking about 50 bhp !!
My 600 in fact has about 120 thanks to the Vance & Hines S4 can and the K & N filter.

And 600s are not very much more expensive than the 400s. Still I just fail to understand as to why people agree to spend 3 lac for a 400 when they could get a 600 of around the same year for less than 4 lac.

Another argument about the 400 being lighter and easier to manouevere as compared to the 600 is also not true as both the bikes are of almost the same weight and dimensions. Only people who've not riden a 600 would make such statements. On the contrary, the CBR 600 (F2 - 4) being a sport tourer has a much more erect & relaxed sitting posture without much strain on the elbows & wrists as compared to the agressive stance of the 400 RR which is meant for racing. Hence it is less tiring to ride the 600. In fact I weigh about 56 kgs and regularly take my 600 F2 everywhere including the crowed bhaji market quite easily. And neither am I young nor an expert rider. I ride the bike on the 6th gear comfortably at the speed of 40 and it returns me an average of 20 - 25 !!!

Besides the production of the CBR 400 stopped almost a decade back and parts would soon be very difficult to get. Comparatively the CBR 600 is the commonest bike in the world (check bikepics.com or ebay.com) and parts would be easily available. In fact parts of the F2 & F3 are being manufactured in the US.

My bike for example has parts of about a lac fitted within the last year and I already have an offer for 3.5 but I've not yet decided. Pics of my bike are in this thread

Hey mate,
You are right on few occasions but I can definitely give a number of counter statements for what you've said. But this is not the thread where such things are to be discussed. If you look closely at the bottom of my post, i have written "Well, this is my personal perception". So i don't think any issue of 'misguiding people' creeps in here.
Okay.

Take it cool
