I had been to this place called Chakum-Chakum @ Indranagar for dinner last evening and ordered the following. (SILVERWOOD+3)

1, Chicken Roll
2, Mutton Shami Roll
3, Single Egg Double Chicken Roll
4, Double chicken Roll
5, Mutton Roll &
6, Fresh Lime (4 No's)

Great place and VFM.It is run by a Bengali couple and food is great.

Total Damages-Rs 405.

I had been to that place several times. But sorry to say, if you have really tasted Authentic Calcutta Rolls you will never feel like eating there. Main thing which is missing and which enhances taste to the roll is kasundi (Mustard Sauce) which they dont bother to offer.

Had dinner at jaymahal Palace Hotel. Great ambience, fantastic food , Value for money too but do not have a dedicated restaurant, you have to sit in the lounge bar for food, which is uncomfartable due to low tables.

I have tasted authentic Calcutta rolls many a times, but i feel this place is quite good for Bangalore. It is VFM also.

Authentic Calcutta rolls do not have any kasundi, unless maybe specifically requested for. I am assuming by Rolls you mean pieces of chicken/muttom etc stuffed in a golden fried crisp maida paratha. The main ingredients are- 1. the stuffing itself 2. the maida paratha covering 3. onions and chopped chilli.

What IS accompanied by Kasundi are the cutlets or fish rolls etc, which are very different from the above stated variety of rolls. These (fish roll for example) are crumb/batter fried fish fillets, or minced chicken/mutton chops, as the case may be. There are no paratha wrappings involved in these.

My favourite haunt for authentic Calcutta rolls in Bangalore is Lazeez, on Comm Street or in Koramangala. Those rolls definitely do not have even a speck of Kasundi in them.
I have not visited this place, so would not be able to give any views on the food itself though. On my radar very soon

I am not a bengali, so cant really comment accurately on kasundi part. But yes, when i was working in gurgaon, i used to frequent a roadside place who used to prepare bengali rolls with kasundi by default (which really used to add to great taste of the roll).

Also, I have been many times on business visit to Calcutta and have tried local roadside rolls there. Even in Calcutta the place i used to visit used to offer kasundi with rolls by default.

I suggested this place "STAR BRIYANI" - BTM layout to a friend who is passionate about food. I remember reading some reviews about their Biriyani somewhere. He was not happy with the Biriyani and started scolding me over the phone

For sure. Sounds to me like an interesting combination, and even though it does not qualify as authentic Calcutta roll, I am always open to experimentation. And if it does work well, thanks are due to you

Chakum Chukum is located off 100 ft Road, about 500 meters from ESI Hospital. You need to take the left after the 12th Main Road Junction (going towards Old Madras Road), and before 6th Main. After the left, you'd need to take another left at Daily Bread/Just Bake(?) and voila! You've arrived at your destination.

There are very little choice for Decent & quality restaurent around the college.
But there are many small food joints along with Andhra type restaurent...

If you want good ambience & excellent sea food dishes, try SEA SPICE.
