yes I think so, Infosys - ~2.5lak per annum for BE from regular VTU colleges. I should be able to confirm this in a week's time as campus recruitments are starting(with Infosys coming first) only very few MNCs offer 4-5+ lak per annum for only BE guys, all colleges pimp it as dream job offer etc.

Nope, IIT people(unless they don't get any job, a rarity) get a starting from 5.5L+.
As for the normal companies its more like 3L for freshers. MNCs go to 5L

Yes that is the offers I am seeing in the recent batches from IITs...More like 5 lakhs centric (it was like 3.6 lakh centric during my time in 2000)
But here as well, the biggies (Infy / TCS / Wipro) donot give that much...

What else do you expect the delivery head to do, when engineers use resignation letter as a way to negotiate the salary rather than their performance. Trust me it happens with many delivery managers, irrespective of the company.

changing jobs for hike will tire you quickly. best is to have bosses who think you are a superstar. real breaks can only come in the form of referrals.

IIT B.tech or 5 year M.tech(integrated)

Well my philosophy on this is that, one works hard for 8 hours a day to be a boss some day who has to work 12 hours a day

That doesn't make sense, IITians are miniscule minorities when you look at the whole pool of freshers graduating every year. Therefore IITians can't dictate the averages. I was asking about the average as in real average, across the whole spectrum.

Thats about 1.75lkh for a fresher.

Is that it? Im a bit surprised, I thought IT freshers get paid a lot more than that.

That was the average 3-4 years back. I'm sure it's much more now.

Unless you are from a reputed college(NIT/NSIT/IIT/REC etc.,) the average can be around 1.5L/pa.
In good colleges its around 2.50-3L/pa

If I was a recruiter, and had a normal software job(no rocket science), I would chose a "good college" guy over IIT.
I can PAy less, less risk of guy running away.

Probably thats why mainstream recruiters stay away from IIT most of the time, and don't do bulk deals there

A grad, in bangalore, in an mnc, gets about 16k per month. I kind of "averaged" that for service companies.

Hmm OK.. Thats one of the reasons why companies prefer looking beyond the IIMs too for their entry level management trainee positions. The chance of the guy staying back is supposedly higher. Its debatable if you ask me.

No it is not I have already mentioned it is for product based Software companies.I have done recruitment in IIT Campus/A Grade inst:.But yeah Infy and TCS is not a great company when it comes to pay.

Only onsite which they MAY get is the only light on the tunnel
