Get Rid of ADWARE - Microsoft's Adware removal tool!

Hey,

So after years of being spyware/adware and virus free some stuff finally managed to creep into my system! (ISTbar, Shop@home etc)

Ad-aware is a good program, but could not get rid of ISTbar which kept popping up.

Anyway, so microsoft has come up with an anti-spyware tool. It does a great job of removing those pesky ad-programs that just refuse to get off your operating system (hmmm...i wonder why this program succeeds? )

Give it a shot if ur computer's got troubles -
MS AntiSpyware
Click on "dload the beta version" in the top center of the page.

and yeah,
before somebody else comes into this thread, i should beat them to saying this > switch over to mozilla firefox.

I guess they have not come up with that anit-spyware tool. They brought up yet another company, which was making this tool. Any way, as you mentioned it’s a very effective tool. It cleaned up IE very nice. Now my IE looks like a car which has just gone thru a water wash and polish job, if that analogy helps.

Yup, I am too using firefox. But it’s still IE inside the corporate network.

Hey Kinetic,

Actually i use Opera as well... but some pages dont work perfectly. and hence i go to IE for those....however i plan to substitute that with firefox.

Gkrishn, that is right, they have bought the technology and probably just gave it a weirder GUI and badged it MS.
Have you noticed how microsoft has NO CLUE about making GUI's smoothly flowing... this software as well as hotmail is a PRIME example..all the buttons are in the most illogical places!

anyway, glad it helped.

Gee Thanks for sharing this! It sure did pick up stuff that none of the other programs did...

Gotta love that interface. Is it going to be freeware permanently or is it only for the beta version?

Well MS hasnt' mentioned anything as yet.
If MS is developing an entire anti-virus suite to go with this my guess is that they might charge for that entire package, however if it is developed as a standalone product it might just be free....although amitoj does have a very good point...lol.

Hey Gkrishn,

I was going to say the same thing...but then i thought.... what OS will they bundle this with?? Will this be part of winXP SP3 ? lol.

Because the way i see it, Longhorn should have some prevention against this that works... going by "prevention is better than cure".

Also, another reason why microsoft should give this software free is tha fact that IE + Anitspyware = Mozilla Firefox.
So if you start making people pay for antispyware, they will just shift to firefox, which one again has the advantage of "prevention is better than cure".

Anyway...it sorted my computer out...as well as ajmats...so we are content for the time being!

cheers
