hmmm! sounds familiar :) even i do the same thing - i love to hear my car's exhaust note wala videos in my fone. i have three of them. mind blowing!
during long drives - the exhaust note keeps me awake.
during presentations - i always fall asleep (i cant help it) :D
Over long drives its the music and the beauty of the place i drive thru (provided the traffic is low and I am driving at a moderate speed).
if it gets very monotonous, rev up the vehicle and drive like nuts (only speed wise, not the 'cutting across' / crazy overtaking kind of stuff) for some time - gets the body into alert mode!
how can driving be boring !!! if somebody feels that he/she should not be driving... but on real long drives water, tang and chocolate help to keep the energy levels high.
Er.. I NEVER feel tired when I'm driving. Infact, a drive ALWAYS makes me feel fresh and recharged.
heavy metal music \m/ enough said!
On long drives... cupa tea. If that is not there my wife...if she has fallen asleep, the silence :)
Presentations/Meeting: I dont even attempt to keep myself awake...and so far I havent missed anything important!
Regards,

agree:
But on really long drives, if i get tired and start feeling drowsy, i have an apple. Works better than caffiene.

Traveling, in a hotel, or when I am tired a good movie might keep me going. But I do not just get lost in the plot. I try to watch how the actors do their thing, I watch camera angles, lighting, I catch nuances in the dialog, I listen to how music is used, etc. It is not unusual for me to watch a good movie many times to watch the gross and subtle craftsmanship of this modern day art form. |
@Dan....that's exactly how i watch a movie.....and i keep irritating everybody with my findings.
:D
....and regarding Looooooong drives, it's the fun of driving that keeps me awake......and ofcourse COFFEE. To me driving is something which needs 100% attention. Even music is a deterrent there.

It can become boring ...let me give u an example ..
8 hr drive in a rental car which has auto transmission and cabin is so silent u dont even hear the road noise..
Im used to driving with loud crisp exhaust note , firm suspension and sound of road noise , u can hear the tone change with rpm..
when I move to rental car its like somebody just turned off the outside world..:D

In meetings.. I act as if I am writing down something... and I scribble/write/draw anything related to any topic that can keep my brain excited there by keeping me awake.
In one specific training, i wrote everything that the instructor told in BOLD letters trying to write in different fonts (that was an experience) and that did keep me awake! :) |
hahaha .. that must be the height of getting bored ..

that too post lunch! :Frustrati
come to think of it, I now plan my team meetings at these time! stupid:
have never been to a meeting as such because am still in school, however i face similiar situations when free periods are converted to lectures and add to that the grin on the professors face, i get over the situation by imagining myself taking my professor for a drive with me in a supercharged supra and seeing his face :Shockked:at the end of the drive.
as far as long drives are concerned, good music does the trick for me.
Never done a boring drive in my 12+ yrs of driving !! All drives have their thrills, spills & chills !!!
Night driving a strict no no.
I have friends or Kishore Kumar keeping me company. :-)
Music it is. Be it Kenny G, Madonna or Himesh. Enough to keep me awake on long night drives.
