n_c excellent, nicely written my friend .

I must admit I read this last night and decided that I need a haircut. I really dint need one though, but felt I should re-live what n_c has narrated here.Went ahead and got a hair-cut.

The above quote reminds me of the TATA Safari ad which says " The only lines that matter are the ones that you make". So true. I am sure everyone had a memorable "haircut". People doing funny things in front of the mirror, some adjusting their 1-2 hair, some doing hair color at one end and some reading the free newspaper at the other end.

Does anyone remember how people used to flock to the haircutting saloons to listen to the radio or to watch the TV in case there was a India cricket match.

ok...i too need a haircut...and no NC's thread didnt remind me of that..i anyway had scheduled it for this weekend...but his thread did remind me of my childhood haircut episodes.

I was born and bought up in a small city..so no fancy saloons there. When we were quite young (5-6 yrs old), that hair saloon guy used to keep a wooden plank on the arms of the chair and we use to sit on that platform.
champi was free
Rotating chairs with wooden adjustable head rest were the norm then.
There were no razor blades used at that time, there was one ustra that was sharpened on a stone belt before every hair cut....and that was the scariest part(for me)..i used to imagine a butcher sharpening his knife before slitting the throat of the goat(luckily that never happened)

Cost: Rs2/- then Rs5/- and the last haircut(9 yrs ago) in the same saloon costed me Rs7/-

Regards,
