This is terrible news. First Shell with stopping normal petrol (I'm sure they'll follow suit) and now Reliance. There go the only quality options available.

Terrible news in more than one way.. Economic times says:

Quote:
According to reports, Reliance had invested about Rs 4,000 crore in setting up close to 1,400 retail outlets of the over 5,000 planned earlier

Number of allied services will take a serious hit on account of the closure. Transporters had invested over Rs 524 crore in a fleet of nearly 3,745 trucks, who after the closure would be idle. Over 55,000 jobs which had been created by Reliance retail operations at outlets, transporters and within the company are now at risk.

Oh! That's terrible.
Hope some international major or an Indian major company could just buy off the whole operations from Reliance and make a plan to operate with goverment subsidies or so.....
That will help save all the investments, jobs etc... going waste.

Where's Total, BP (international), IOC, Petronas, TATAs etc...?

Isn't it a better idea to align our retail prices with rising prices of crude oil instead of licking government asses? Government does not mine gold, it is our tax money which is being used to pay these subsidies and issue bonds.

I noticed that Essar has increased the number of its pumps rapidly in the last 6 months, especially in Gujarat. They are expanding rapidly, am bemused how they are able to sell at low prices (or are they also higher?)

hhmm this is some news, i dont mind the pumps closing but would definitely want the A1 plazas to stay open. i some how dint like the reliance petrol/diesel because it always made my engine oil wear out much too sooner, has no one noticed this?

anyway i hope the A1plazas stay open they are a boon on highways.

CNBC TV18 was showing in the breaking news section today that Reliance Fuel Retail outlets would start their operations soon. Hope it becomes true.

Great news. Since Reliance shut down, we started using fuel from different companies that include BP, HP and IOC. All our vehicles are not performing well as compared to Reliance. My bike's Carb needs complete overhaul every 30 days. Maruti 800 carb also needs the same.

Reliance has started selling petrol again - cost me 50.48 a litre at their outlet between Chittoor and Naraharipeta on NH4. They also had Auto LPG available. Diesel was not available though.

Re: Reliance to shut petrol pumps

Bumping up:

Were not Reliance supposed to start opening their fuel station outlets after the pricing of crude stabilized or favored it to the extent of it being operational?

Any information?

Re: Reliance to shut petrol pumps

I had never filled with Reliance when they were operational earlier, however I had used their AOnePlaza food outlets and I must admit that they were the best in terms of quality on the highways. Their washrooms were pretty clean too. Hope they open up now.
