Re: The "It's raining in my city" Thread!

Today evening I saw a tree fall right in front of my eyes, while I was waiting at the signal. It was in front of shobha central on 4th Main in Kalyan Nagar. The road got blocked as a result.

Been raining almost continuously in Brisbane over the last 2 days. The temperatures have dropped considerably, making it necessary to bring out the jackets n sweaters.

On my way back last evening (I come through Koramangala) there were a lot of fallen branches and leaves on the road at 3rd block and near Sony signal. For four wheelers it isn't a problem to go over them, but for two wheelers it was a nightmare; because of the leaves mixed with rain, the road surface had become slippery - accident waiting to happen.

Also, there was a big tree that had fallen at the Canara bank junction and near the Sony world signal and these caused a massive traffic jam. Towards 4th block, the roads were flooded (as you can see in the pictures). It was a mess. I think I should stick to my car during the rainy season

Re: The "It's raining in my city" Thread!

Today there was heavy downpour in Trivandrum accompanied by thunderbolts and not to mention, the flooded streets. Was slowly and steadily executing a flooded road at Edapazhinji near Vazhuthacaud when this Indica taxi raced through water from the other side creating a monstrous bow wave causing water to splash into the engine compartment, which smoked a bit. Wifey wanted to run out of the car and somehow I convinced her that it was Ok

No, it was our Maruthi 800 MPFI who smoked when the bow wave tickled her radiators.
Had I any foresight that it was going to rain cats and dogs and the streets were to be flooded, I would definitely had taken out the Ambassador for the day. Equipped with a mechanical rotary diesel feed pump and with the air intake positioned high above the valve covers, it would easily wade through any flooded road granting peace of mind to the driver and the only favors it would expect is a left foot braking for the next couple of kilometers to regain the brake bite and a 10 point greasing on reaching home. Good old vehicles.

On the topic : Rain is still pouring down non stop, this being the second day.
regards adrian

Re: The "It's raining in my city" Thread!

I live within an hour's drive from Agumbe, a place that receives one of the highest rainfalls. So I am used to driving in heavy rainfall, and don't stop driving during heavy rains if I am in my Grand Vitara.

But yesterday I had to break my habit. I was returning from Coorg with family. Near Kunigal, the rain and wind got heavy, my visibility reduces to just few feet. I was afraid of flying debris hitting my windshield. I finally swallowed my pride and stopped.

Watch in high definition.

The clouds before the storm...

The actual rain storm....
