I drove from Hassan to Bangalore on Saturday night. Got caught in severe thunderstorms in btw Bellur cross & Yediyur around 7.30 pm. Visibility was zero and the car (Getz 1.3) didn't have good wipers & headlamps. Had to stop in the roadside for about 45 mts till the rains became a steady drizzle.

Again encountered heavy rain in NICE road with almost zero visibility. Took 5 hours from HSN to BLR due to the rain + slow & careful driving.

Mods : I do not know if the above is OK to be posted in this thread ( is it only BLR ?).

Monsoon to hit Karnataka Coast today according to the Met. Dept., but looking at the weather today, I have my own doubts.

Have you guys ever realized that whenever the Met. Dept. makes a forecast, it's always the other way around.

Yup! They are pretty accurate in their inaccuracy that way!

Same thought here when I did a small walk after lunch to the ATM. Man, was I sweating! Was wondering where the rain clouds are hiding!

And this is regardless of any region you are in. The local Met department always mentions the exact opposite of what the Gods have in mind.

Actually there was a BMTC bus stuck here last week. But then thats a different section of the government.

I dont understand how someone cannot plan for something as basic as this. An uderpass with no proper drainage.

+1 and for a more excellent experience you must travel on the Hosur Road Elevated highway during/after good amount of rain. One lane becomes completely useless with stagnant water almost to the level of the median.
To add to the woes of the commuters travelling by the regular highway underneath, the drainage outlets atop will be showering (literally) at various places right over the hapeless folks below (esp. 2 wheeler riders waiting for the signals).

Not to forget the best part that you pay to get stuck here!!

Yeah, It is indeed raining in Bangalore and it is raining brickbats on the BBMP/BDA too.

Rains started at Indiranagar now. Think its still pre-monsoon shower, Monsoon shower will take few more days to enter bangalore though it has hit coastal karnataka.

WHAT!! no drain pipes to channel the water properly?? This is heights. This is not only bad design but complete lack of commonsense.

The other downside to this is, with water continously falling on the road below from that height, the road surface will get damaged, and soon we'll have a pothole there.
