I thought it was just light showers, but it started raining heavily and continued for more than an hour. But very localised rains...it is not raining all over Chennai. In fact not raining beyond Sholinganallur, I heard. The rains have almost stopped now, but the weather is quite pleasant now .

Re: The "It's raining in my city" Thread!

Bond has arrived with Boond
Looks like Skyfall premiered in Pune today afternoon.

Extreme heavy rainshowers, stormy winds, thunderstorm and lightning. Can't see a thing from my 8th floor office window at Hinjewadi.

Looks like rain gods have some monthly targets to achieve

With no schools and colleges, the mad rush is reduced. Combined with extremely heavy downpour, the roads in south chennai (Read adyar) were empty.

Re: The "It's raining in my city" Thread!

Looks like the Cyclone Nilam is on target....the heavy downpour (which has been on for more than an hour now) doesnt seem to be subsiding. It has been generally raining from early in the morning today all over Chennai.

Good that the government had declared a holiday today for schools/colleges. The way it is raining now...I wouldnt be surprised if the holidays is extended to tomorrow also.

The way it is raining in Chennai now, and the way the wind is blowing....maybe the Cyclone Nilam might make landfall earlier than predicted.

Strong gusts of wind and intermittent heavy showers in Chennai since early morning today.

Moderate to heavy rainfall here in Kuala Lumpur. The funny part is that it rains without giving you a warning and the rain too stops abruptly: not a droplet after the rain stops

Looks like Cyclone Nilam is homing in on Chennai.

http://www.firstpost.com/india/live-...rs-508939.html

I guess, most companies in SIPCOT IT park, Siruseri have announced early closure....this has resulted in a major traffic pileup within SIPCOT, at the exit gate.

Raining in Bangalore with lots of cool winds. Have not seen this kind of awesome weather in the last 3 years at least. Am at work, but I want to go down, sit under a thatched roof, have piping hot onion pakodas and sip on some hot tea. Aaaah. Heaven!!

I second you there, hrman.

The weather is so beautiful that I had to make a reason to convince my conscience to get out of the office for a quick spin to tank up the car although I had half-tank remaining..

The weather forecast says it's going to last until Friday morning. I so wish!

This is one of the best ways to enjoy cool rainy weather...gets even better if the location is some hill station, with light mist floating around.

Re: The "It's raining in my city" Thread!

Quite a bit of rain and winds in Bangalore now- as is the case across half of India.
Cyclone Nilam is hitting the TN coast with a mad fury, it has dumped an Oil tanker into the beach at >100KPH speed.
Best move for everyone is to go home and stay home. You know the roads in Bangalore, no point in attempting suicide, especially with major power outages in many places.
