Chennai, Kolkotta, Hyderabad, Rajasthan, Mumbai already won the IPL.
Who next, Delhi/Punjab?

Sorry, I didn't get it. Are you referring to the Mumbai stuff mentioned by Dr. Swamy? If yes, that has no reference to any of the team owners of Mumbai Indians. Or is it something else you are referring to?

Bangalore should be next up. We have come tantalizingly close a couple of times. We just need a few tweaks here and there, and it will be domination of the ipl .

re: The IPL Thread (Fantasy game league details on pg 238)

Found this on FB. Interesting! Is this true? Can someone corroborate?

"BCCI was registered in Chennai during the 1930's. Later, it continues under the Tamil Nadu Co-operative Societies Act (1975), as a society registered in TN. Many unsuccessful attempts were made to transfer the registration to Mumbai. So, TN State Government can interfere, under the said act, in case of malpractices. It Can remove the President of the board and appoint it's representative as care taker, under the provisions of the said act. No outsider can question the BCCi - but the Govt of TN has the full powers for it! And it has the powers to take action as it deems fit, under the said societies act".

Yes, its always give and take. People holding the remote control have more sway over things than the actual rubber stamp leaders. we should know this by now? There was a rule for retentions and it was tweaked to suit chennai. doesnt matter who did it for srini mama, but chennai benefitted and newer teams lost out even though they invested more money.
I am not defending Sahara, they anyway left IPL more for other reasons. But at the same time, they did get a raw deal compared to SRH. this does seem unfair.
as for the sri lankan players, if it was any other team dont you think the matches would have been moved to another city?! We all know the answer to that.

ha ha, that was meant to be a bit funny. But now that Dhoni has chosen to go the Maunmohan way, he is showing no spine at all to even voice his opinion.
as for the rules, it is clear that if any team indulges in fixing/ betting they would be banned. now whom are they trying to fool by saying this Guru was only enthusiastic and not really a team principal? so if they were to follow the rules, chennai team should be thrown out of the IPL. but then its a family run business so they choose to do as they feel. and all this nonsense is only detrimental to cricket overall. once dravid, sachin, dhoni etc retire, one can only imagine what kind of credibility the next gen players will have.

it doesnt matter how much the players have worked hard. if they are good enough, they will obviously be picked up at the next auction by other teams. But will anyone watching a chennai ipl match be sure that some other enthusiastic relative of srini mama is not indulging himself?

Edit: something worth reading http://www.firstpost.com/sports/ipl/...&utm_medium=hp

N Srinivasan is wearing multiple hats (or say multiple personalities) - FIL of CSK, MD of India Cements & President of BCCI. On the day Meiyappan was arrested (May 24), all these personalities were visible in public:

NS-FIL: Spent time with Meiyappan in Kodaikanal, before Meiyappan flew to Mumbai

NS-MD: Declares Meiyappan is not related to India Cements or CSK in any manner.

NS-President: Suspends Meiyappan, because he is part of CSK management..

Most likely, this is what will happen:
1) Meiyappan will be found guilty and may face jail term.
2) CSK will fined heavily for appointing Meiyappan in management.
3) Business as usual in BCCI.

It will be really interesting to see every player put on auction and how the teams will end up. Its been quite a few years and so many good players have emerged.

Will this happen for the next season? I think trading is not allowed.

TN was the foremost state in Tennis and Cricket in those days. I can believe the BCCI having been registered there etc. I am not so sure if the present day scenario allows the TN govt to barge in though.
If it is indeed a registered Club or Society within TN jurisdiction and in some way is indebted to the TN govt in terms of the building or land it occupies, then yes the govt can make things uncomfortably hot for the BCCI. Failing which I cannot see any way for the TN govt to interfere in the daily runnings of the BCCI.
Incidentally MR. N.S is the boss of the TNGF - Tamil Nadu Golf Federation. And his Brother N.R. Is the boss of the World Squash Federation...
They have been and continue to be deeply involved in many sports in India...

Thanks.

Which team do you guys think is strong this time around ?

And will CSK be banned ? If they are, there are some pretty big names to be picked up by RR, KXIP who still have some money left.

CSK can never be banned same as Dhoni can't be removed from India captaincy. I feel RR has the best balance in their team Kings might win this time.

Srinivasan doesn't play by the rules, the rules play by Srinivasan. Or is that something only Rajinikanth is allowed to do?

Who will do well will depend on where, and what kind of pitches, the IPL is played. Traditional SA wickets would mean that the core of CSK - Ashwin, Raina & Sir Jadeja will not be as effective.

indeed, it ended up being RCB and DC in the final last time in SA. I remember RCB beat CSK on the way to the final that year. I'm hoping Yuvi brings the fireworks this year, can't wait to see the boys play!
