Re: The IPL Thread

Their other more pressing problem is the bowling. Chahal isn't half as effective without Kuldeep at the other end.

Re: The IPL Thread

Was really disappointed with Manjrekar (guess everyone knows he is like that) and Pant. Shreyas Iyer rightly called the non-striker batsman back after collision. While others in commentary team were appreciative of Iyer, Manjrekar kept shouting, why is he doing that, its not intentional etc. Pant also comes in and tries to tell Iyer that it was legitimate out.

When you have 2 balls remaining and the batsman is at non-striker's end, was it really required ?

Of course it was legitimate. First of all ball had already crossed the batsman before the collision happened. secondly, as per the cricket laws bowler has every right to collect the ball and batsman in that case has to go around him, that's what the bowler was doing. Pant did the right thing by stating the same. Anyways, opinions will always differ on this. Interestingly this controversy happened with 2 balls remaining and controversy again happened with Mishra run out with 2 balls remaining.

Glad to see my team DC getting through its first playoff. Pant played a blinder but still needs to learn not to get carried away and finish the job like his senior MSD.

Re: The IPL Thread

So will it be a CSK Vs MI showdown in the final ? (CSK beats DC-Delhi Capitals in the Eliminator)

Re: The IPL Thread

I think that DC will pull through, unless there is a heroic performance from one of the batters from CSK. They rely very heavily on MSD and if he fails, it'll take something exceptional from someone else to help them win.

Also, I think MSD should have played / should play Santner. I have been hearing that he is being groomed for an opening batsman role from next IPL onwards (yes, opening batsman) as a replacement for Watson. They may just try that today.

I concur. DC is much better than Chennai in most aspects. Also, they have the advantage of knowing how will the pitch behave. Only concern for DC is death bowling where Rabada was so effective. I believe they should play Morris instead of Boult. Also, Munro should either open with Dhawan at 1 down or Munro at 3 is idle. Munro can't play spin so his utilization is best at the top.

Barring Dhoni none of CSK batters are a threat. It will be a miracle if they score 160+ batting first or chase the same. Only thing which can stop DC is their own collapsing at the last minute.

Re: The IPL Thread

Looks like a one-sided match going on. Feels like Men vs Kids. Planned vs trying to boom boom.
It will be good to have Mumbai vs Chennai finals. DC will be really weak.

Re: The IPL Thread

Great match, the IPL 2019 final. With all the lives that Watson got, seemed like it was CSK's lucky night but Mumbai prevailed in the end

Disappointed that CSK could not win. Nevertheless, a great match.

Re: The IPL Thread

Well the age showed up finally. Two important run-outs cost Chennai the match. Another 1 run defeat that too in final is excruciating to watch

Congratulations to Mumbai. Bumrah you beauty. If Pandya and bumrah carry this form into the world cup India would be really a formidable force

It was a bad call by Dhoni. The evergreen lesson in Cricket is not to run on a misfield. Dhoni might be fast but Ishan Kishan being younger was just that wee bit faster and accurate. I was so sure that Mumbai will lose it with those crucial drop catches but Dhoni's and Watson's runout cost CSK the match.

Re: The IPL Thread

Dhoni was definitely out.
Dhoni was right when he said both teams played badly.
MI had the best team in the league and deserved to win.
At the end, cricket was the winner

Re: The IPL Thread

Yes, a great final and good game of cricket overall.

But, wish we could selectively mute Manjrekar's unbearable commentary and his attempts to coach the teams as though he was a T20 veteran!

Ah...I echo your sentiments.... Why do we have Manjrekar as a commentator at all? His insights aren't great or even worth a ponder, nor is his "style" affable or ...I'm running out of words here! Plus he could have at least 'tried' being neutral. We need Harsha Bhogle kinda commentators, the one we deserve but the one we do not have.

PS: Loved the game. Both sides tried equally hard to lose the game, but CSK did better. What was Whatto smoking? phew!
